Wow these sudden fast pains

Anyone else get these quick shooting pains that only last a minuet or so.I was getting them on and off all day yesterday just had one so far today and hope they stop. They are coming from my low ribs into the breast./chest area. They come so fast they scare me. Is it Fm, IBS or Costochrondritis. I know many of you have all 3 as I do. I read gas
can do this but also muscle spasms, But than the spasms can trap gas so who knows?

Palmy, we can’t tell you what is causing this pain. Your guess would be better than our guess because it’s happening in your body. If you are really concerned about these, I would suggest you see your doctor.

If this were happening to me and I thought it might be caused by costochondritis, I’d first press on my sternum. When having a costo flare the sternum is tender in my body. And, even if the sternum wasn’t tender, I’d try taking ibuprofen with food. It’s an anti inflammatory medication and that might be all I would need.

But if this is becoming chronic, do speak with your doctor and get checked out.

Hi Palmy, I had somewhat similar pains in that area earlier last year. In the Fall, I went gluten-free, and they stopped. I suspect it was something like trapped gas, IBS kicking up, or related. It's sometimes so hard to tell what's going on, so as Sherrine said, if you're concerned, you could run it by your doctor.

Nerve pain can sometimes feel similar to me, though that usually hits when I'm in a nasty flare in general. Those pains can whiz by fast and can be puzzling, as in "where did that come from??"
