Very cold hands

Hi Hopegirl: I can relate! I'm in the upper U.S. Midwest and right now we're at 35 degrees, which is actually feeling a bit "warm." I seem to be cold almost all winter.

Have you checked with a rheumatologist to see about your circulation? I haven't had any specific tests, but my rheumy said my circulation is good. I have very cold feet in the winter--never seem to warm up. I've always had that. For that, I wear thin cotton socks under my regular socks. Any exercising helps, too.

There are some good hand exercises that may help. I like any gentle "Yes2Next" exercises--very do-able. You can sign up for their weekly newsletter/videos:

It's a 57-year-old personal trainer and her 81-year-old mom (and their cat, who often pops in!) and they have many exercise videos of various types and continually come up with new ones. They're great! They do have a video on hand exercises, which I do daily..(I also do many (gentle) foot and leg exercises and stretches, which have helped my stiffness quite a lot).

I know some people wear arthritis-type gloves in the house, though I haven't checked them out.

Do you crochet or knit? I've heard that helps some people.

Sorry to hear that you are dealing with this condition also. I have many diseases/conditions. So this is just another one for me.

When I was 3 y/o, I was dxd. with Juvenile Diabetes. Then at age 24, it was severe Rheumatoid Arthritis. Then at age 27, I was sitting at the table talking to my Aunt and I noticed that she was staring at my hands. When I looked down, I noticed that my hands were both a medium blue colour and they were cold, as usual. At that point, I thought I was dying. Why else would my hands be blue?? Thankfully, I had an appointment in a couple of weeks when I got back to my city. My Rheumy did some tests after my description of my hands and he came back with Secondary Raynaud's.

I had noticed before that my hands would hurt when I put my hands in real cold water or when I took frozen foods from the freezer. Sometimes, the pain would go straight up my left arm, to my heart. I didn't think that was Dr. worthy though. I just used oven mitts the next times or I'd heat up my longer bean bag in the microwave to warm my hands. My feet and nose get cold also. I consider mine mild, so I've never taken meds for Raynaud's. I'm on enough otherwise.

It may be something else that you have but since you have Fibro....If you are a typist, that can cause it also.
