We did use avocado, they sell it in individual packs for lunches at work, but you can't eat it everyday. Well, you could. Mama, with the Incivek you need to eat 20gr of fat no more than 30 minutes before taking the incivek.

Real butter is 11gr of fat per table spoon. mayonaisse 10gr per tablespoon, eggs 5gr each, Borden cheese slice 7gr each (has more fat than kraft), ice cream drum sticks 19gr each, hot dog 20gr each, our whole grain oatmeal bread 2.5gr per slice, some cereal is 3gr per 3/4 cup which is a small bowl so hubby would double that, 2% milk 5gr per cup, nuts of any kind are high in fat, the cheese cracker meat packages are 19gr per package. The list goes on & on. I just went to the grocery & read labels. Try to stay away from greasy meats such as bacon or sausage. They are high in fat but grease can tend to exaggerate the nausea.

Some of the things I sent in to work with my husband would be spinach salad with egg & cheese with ranch dressing (also high in fat), egg salad sandwich, carrot sticks with ranch dressing to dip them in, of course I always added some fruit.

The biggest problem he had was the incivek has to be taken every 7-9 hrs apart so he was eating at 5 am, 1pm, & 9pm. In other words he was eating as soon as he got out of bed and again right before going to bed. He has problems with GERD so the late night fat was causing problems with the GERD. He was also very nauseated so he was forcing the food down then he had to take the incivek within 30minutes & he was pretty much gagging them down. He only threw up the pills once though so that was good.

These are some samples for you but after awhile he just didn't care what I put in front of him. He was just tired of eating & feeling like crap.

He was working during this time and would come home just wiped out. He'd clean up & go straight to bed. I'd feel so bad when I'd have to wake him up at 9:00 to eat his fat and take his pills. He'd be half asleep sitting there eating an ice cream drum stick that he didn't want at all.


One other thing. Do take some tylenol before your Friday night pegasys shot, it will help. He would always start running a fever that night shortly after the injection. It seemed like he would run fevers many evenings though.
