Solvaldi and Ribavirn

My husband also treated with stage 4 cirrhosis. He used the old interferon/riba...failed the first go, and obtained SVR the 2nd time. He was referred for a transplant 6 months later. Not common at all, but this is his story. Since themister had stage 4 cirrhosis when he was dx in 2005, we had no idea how long his liver had been so sick.

I have not heard of diarrhea after treatment. We have been told the fatigue and other sides of riba can last up to 6 months, until it washes out of your system. For my husband, he felt better each week he was off the meds, but much better at about the 3 month mark. Hang in there.

You possibly have some other "bug" that needs medical attention, or something they will find is nothing at all. I would run it by your doctor to know for certain.

My partner had some problems at end of treatment...not his recent clearance with sovaldi and olysio. But from a failed treatment with interferon and ribavirin. At end of treatment he had chronic diarrhea that they called steatorrhea. It is fatty diarrhea I recall. I was pretty frightened because he lost 50 lbs in a very short time. There are a number of causes that can be serious including reaction to meds, pancreatitis, blocked bile duct, etc. Look on the internet.

Mikes treatment was administered by his GI doc. This problem and the GI docs lack of interest/skill left us sure Mike was dying.

We found an excellent Hepatologist who set a regimen in place that settled his gut and also set Mike on his path toward transplant. This all happened in 2003. Since then Mike got sober, was transplanted, took acsuccessful hep c treatment, and is very much alive.

Talk to a new doc if you aren't getting anywhere quickly.
