48 years old..Severe Alcohol Hepatitis....drank for 20 plus years

Ziff? .....Been busy mhump. No rest for the wicked they say. Just had a appointment with my Gastro Doc. He seemed a little ticked off at me (I have that effect on folks). After a thorough verbal assault over my confessed sodium increase (Salt) he reminded me how thin the ice I tread is. Ahh... had worse spanking from higher pedigree professionals. I Humbly apologized for my lapse and he scheduled a Sonogram and Endoscopy. Did the Sonogram for TIPS flow and fluid check. Hesitant about that final recommendation of Endoscopy though. Had one done a couple years ago and a MRI every year since.
I called my Hep Doc. at UNC and the coordinator. Not gotten a answer for what they would like me to do yet. UNC schedules yearly testing and recommended I see a local Gastro in between. UNC is a 3 hour trip one way and costly. I can drive 20 minutes and have the same work done here in my area. The results are still monitored by UNC so it's cost effective and he's a decent Gastro (Had several bad experiences with prior Gastro docs, One dang near killed me). I am very cautious of advice and medications they recommend. That's just a personal opinion.
All else seems fine. Glad to hear your muddling along also. If ya can stay away from the Alcohol and don't piss your Docs. off I suspect you'll be fine. I believe we know our bodies are headed south long before we get help. It's admitting we aren't educated enough to diagnose the real problem or admit we can't control our own destiny. More so the latter. A prideful pig headed sort, Us drunks that is. Just a reminder. PPM has equally personal experience's on both sides of the fence (Caregiver/Patient). I don't think he'd steer you wrong. Take care bud.

Did your dr tell you why he wanted the EUS? Where was the scarring??

I read your posts from last year and see you were diagnosed with Budd chiari syndrome. And you also stated your doc was contemplating a venogram. Wikipedia says cause can be occlusion of hepatic vein.. with symptoms of upper right pain, ascities, and liver enlargement. On 4-13-2016 you stated you had a ultrasound, that showed a enlarged liver.

How are your kidneys doing?

PPM...last year was a bad year, I was scared and reading everything on the internet. With internet searching you can think you have an illness and over react. So I self diagnose with budd chiari syndrome it was me jumping to conclusions.

I was diagnose with Alcohol Hepatitis a mild case I guess. It took a year for it clear up because I feel pretty good. I was having pains in my left side under my rib cage and the pain kinda went around to my back. My Gastro doctor sent me for a EUS to check the pancreas, that is when he saw scarring but ducts was all clear. I have to say the pain did go away.

Now I'm having foggy brain and headaches. I take lactolose because with the AAH I was constipated and still is. I feel my liver is hardening up, can you feel that or am I just making this up in my head? also I feel pain from time to time but it seem like it's going away.

I did a fribroscan back in March 2016 it didn't show anything, but in April I did an biopsy and it show mild Fibrosis. I wonder can mild turn into cirrhosis? one of my test still be slightly elevated, can't remember if its the ALT or AST...plus my bilirubin be slightly high too....
