Here's an interesting one. I have had sinusitis on and off for most of my life and find that when I get a lot of mucus draining down the back of my throat (after a cold or after being exposed to an allergen) the gas becomes much more of a problem. Does the body attempt to digest mucus and fail which puts a strain on the digestive system as a whole?

I don't know. Sounds plausible. But if you get treated with antibiotics for the infection, then that's more likely to be causing your problems. Also, mucus--even in the nose--can be a symptom of a bowel problem: bad bacteria problem (funny enough, bad bacteria in the bowels can show up in other places too--like thrush in the mouth or bladder infections) or food allergy. Not that you can't just be prone to sinusitis, but make sure you at least investigate the food allergy angle.

I know this is a long site to read but it will explain all about gas. Chances are you are swallowing air if it is in the stomach. I really don't think the mucous would cause a problem and as you can see it is probably not from digestion anyway.
