Someone on these topics, either on the IBS Forum or the UC Forum, takes one Sudafed D 12 hour per day. To control D. This member pointed out that this was the medication doctors used to recommend or prescribe years ago, before they invented Imodium. I began to think back to times I had a sinus or viral infection and would be prescribed or taken an OTC Decongestant of some sorts - Allegra, Singulair, Clartin D - and how my gut had been unusually quiet during that time period. I began to wonder if this would work or there was a connection between Pseudoephedrine HCI 120 mg and bowel wall contractions (it slows them down).
Consequently I began taking one Kroger generic brand Sudafed D 12 hour each day last October, for a new job I had taken. Turns out it does work. Try it. I even take it on the weekends because I want a quiet gut.
Now my gut still is active but far less active when this medication is in my system. For some reason my gut prefers the generic version. Which is cheaper - win-win!
FYI, this is the medication that is behind the counter, you need an ID to purchase it. If you try this med, be sure it's the white oval pill. One time I wasn't paying attn. to what the pharmacy clerk sold me and turns out it was the round red pill you take every 4 hours, this is not the same thing at all!
