Travelling with I.B.

Have a question. My Husband and I are going on a trip to Costa Rica at the end of February. We will be in the North, closer to Liberia, at a resort. I have been to Costa Rica before. I had a Hepatitis shot before I went last time but I only had the first part. I didn't get the second part of the shot when I came home.
My Doctor has given me a prescription for the Hep shot.

My Doctor also gave a prescription for Dukoral but she said I should read about it and decide whether to get this. I have had I.B. all my life. I am a C. Diff survivor. I am on meds for other conditions. My thought was to take some probiotics with me. Two other suggestions are Immodium or Pepto Bismol. I know what to avoid with food and water. I have never used Dukoral and can't predict possible side effects.

Any thoughts?

Dukoral has a particular time frame when to take. We are only going for a week. Will get the Hep shot but I am leaning against the Dukoral. I just don't know what it would do to my already not great stomach.

We were in Spain last year and I got very sick the last day. Had a bad taste in my mouth all day. Ended up vomiting before we were heading out to a show. My stomach was sore for about 3 days. I have stopped one medication I was on - Omeprazole. It is a PPI that I had been taking for several years along with NSAIDs. I am managing to get by without it. I split my low dose of NSAID in half and take one in the morning at Breakfast and another at dinner. My stomach is working better. I also have less gas. It is so horrible - having I.B. I also believe Magnesium supplements have helped my stomach.

Appreciate your comment. It is something I do also, cut pills in half.
