Your thoughts on Breast implants

Ladies, and some men,

 

In 2005 I had Plastic surgury with breast augmentation with silicone implants. The Gummy bear ones that can not leak as they are the consisitancy of gummy bears.  I started feeling ill almost right away. I have been to many doctors and right now my numbers seem pretty darn high to me. I have a sugery scheduled for April 10th to have them removed. I was wondering if any of you and anything simular. By the way, my insurance company saw my numbers and approved the removal.

 

 

 

Rheumatoid Factor 287 ( normal under 20)

Sed Rate 86 (Normal under 20)

Platelets  112 ( normal is 200)

Sjogrens SS-A Antibody is 622 ( normal under 100)

Sjogerns SS-A Antibody is 455 ( normal under 100)

I have Raynaud's syndrome effecting all digits

My lung capacity was measured as 'Moderately Severe' in the last pulmonary function test.

Other symptoms are;  Achy joints, hair loss,stiffness, memory impairments, severe fatigue, pain, sensitivity to light. I am starting to have other organ involvement as well. (Liver, Kidney) and a host of other issues to numerous to list.

 

I am seen by a regular physician, a hematologist, and a rheumatolagist.

 

What do you guys think? Does this look serious to you. By the way, I will not let a doctor give a final diagnosis. What do YOU think??

Hi Nancy . . I'm SO sorry you are having such a hard time. Did all of these health issues happen after the implants? Or did they worsen after the implants? Just curious. We did have another member who was in diagnosis limbo for years . . . Ginny might remember her. I can't remember her name. Anyway . . . she ended up having implants removed too. I didn't see her post much after that . . . not sure how she is doing . . . but she did have a lot of medical issues that her doctors were unable to help her with. I wonder if the implants (being a foreign object in your body) can make your immune system go nuts trying to get rid of them???? At the end of my signature there is a clickable link "4 of 11 Criteria" . . . it helps doctors diagnose lupus. You are thought to have Lupus if you have 4 of the 11 criteria listed. I hope your surgery goes well.

My boyfriends om got very severe lupus from silicone breast implants that had some damage that lasted after her mastectomies. Apparently she had the injections and it went down into her belly and all.

My mother was in a caraccident and had a large part of her face rebuilt with silicone and she has only had some mild symptoms of problems except for the fact they left a sponge in there for twenty years. Even that gave her not only infections but eventually autoimmune type problems. She does have microscopic colitis still, but has been much better since the sponge came out.

I do think that we underestimate the contaminants that can get in when they do surgery. And then if they put you on steriods or immunosuppressats, things fester. I know the injection ones were just plain bad, but my moms face was done inthe seventies and she's had very ttle difficulty in this very delicate area, especially where they rebuilt her sinuses and all.

Perhaps the jelly implants aren't as good as what they use for nose jobs and such. It does seem like you must be feeling pretty lousy. I hope you feel better soon.
