Lupus or Lyme ?

So a very simple question : how do u know that it's lupus not Lyme ?

How accurate are blood tests? Is it true thT sometimes it takes years to reflect on blood work ?

My sed rate and all other lupus tests are negative
The only positive thing is ANA -1:320 homogenous and recently with speckled pattern

However, I have a positive Lyme test but I am not convinced I have it and afraid it's false positive ( by Igenex ).
I can go over my symptoms in another post or if u ask but for now I just need some insight please

I'm no doctor and don't claim to be, but I do know to diagnose lupus a rheumatologist must follow the 11 indicators of Lupus list. If you meet at least 4 of the 11 then it's lupus.

Lupus is diagnosed by having at least 4 of 11 symptoms, where blood work is only one of the symptoms. You can have Lupus without any positive blood work. Read the link, Diagnosing Lupus, below for more information.

If you think your symptoms match up, make an appointment with a rheumatologist to get things checked out.

For questions about Lyme, I'm afraid you'll have to visit the Lyme forum, I really don't know much about it at all.

One thing you might want to know is that there is no scientific evidence of false positives in Lyme testing. They would have to have a 100% accurate test in order to prove that. That being said, if you have a positive result from Igenex, you pretty much have your answer there. The next thing to do would be to start treating for Lyme and if you start to feel better and then see an increase in symptoms (the Jarisch-Herxheimer reaction), you would have your confirmation there.
