Gamma Globulin Treatment for Lyme

RMV: I did the IgG injections, weekly for 6 months with not much improvement, maybe a little less tired. But I think maybe I was actually reacting to the injections as I am also very allergic. Are you looking into the IV or IM? The IVs I understand are around $2,000. a piece. not a possibility for me unless insurance would approve. Are your wifes IgG levels below normal? Mine were and after 6 months they had hardly improved so I stopped them. There is some risk of contamination as it is make from donated blood. That always scared me some. D

RMV: I asked this question about IgG awhile back here and did not get much of a response. The interesting thing is Lyme sufferers often have high IgG because their body is fighting and that is what it is supposed to do. Mine on the other hand is Low, right across the chart from subclasses 1-4 and my t-cell count is abnormally high. No doctor can tell me why that is, very frustrating. I would be curious to know if your wifes IgG levels were low like mine. Would you let me know? Thanks  D

I was given the injections only because my IgG levels were low. I did them weekly for 6 months and I did not really notice much improvement. I have never seen it given for brain fog, depression and anxiety. Its normally used to raise your globulin levels, are your levels low? There is risk of contamination because they are made from human blood, so I chose to stop them.  D

My son just had his 3rd infusion of Sub-cutaneous Immunoglobins.  He has low IgG and three of the lyme literate docs, neurologist, PCP, and psychiatrist, all felt that he would benefit from it.  He has had no side effects other than redness and swelling at the sites of injection.  I guess it's really to soon to tell if it is helping.  I know that some people have been helped, but not others.  It was a very difficult decision to make, considering that it is a donated blood product, but then nothing about this disease has been easy, has it?  As Pam Weintraub says in Cure Unknown, we just have to keep peeling back the layers. 

Dowa, Yes they do think the low IgG was caused by Lyme. Dan had been a very healthy, active, young man before Lyme. The mainstream immunologists that we saw said that most people with low IgG have a constant stream infections. Dan didn't really fit the usual profile, but they went out on a limb to try to help him. They told us flat out that they didn't believe in chronic Lyme and had spoken with their ID dept. and felt that it was not Lyme, but they saw a young man who was suffering and are trying to help.........what a concept! I'm sorry that this protocol didn't help you. Take Care, Karen
