Ok. I have been seeing a doctor for a few months now and she tells me to take 100mg every 12 hours. I know this is too low but she said everyone is different and since my liver is tolerating it, it is all I should take. I have asked for an increase but she said I need to stay where I am at....AAAHHHH! I rpbably should find a new doc., right????? Tell me what you think. I really need some advice.

Find a new doc (JMHO). Why bother taking something that isn't going to do you any good? I am on IV Rocephin (since 2/25/09) and and if my insurance keeps approving, will be on that for at least 6 months; and my doc just added doxy 3 weeks ago - 400 mg a day (100 mg every q4h)(she wants me to do 600, but starting with 400 because I'm herxing so badly).

I'm sorry you have to fight to get the treatment you need. It's a darn shame.

I know 100 mg isn't supposed to be enough, but before I finally saw an LLMD , my PCP humoured me even though he didn't think I had lyme, so he gave me that prescription for one month. I think it was just once a day but could have been twice a day. That was a long time ago.

I did get better, but relapsed in a couple of months so the same prescription for 6 months. This time I stayed well for several months.

After that, I just felt tired and achy and forgetful until I saw LLMD. PCP said I couldn't have lyme anymore.

I've always wondered why it worked. He'd probably say it was placebo affect--but I doubt it.

Also kind of reached a plateau after on doxy, ceftin, flagyl, etc for 18 months with LLMD.

Depends on your height and weight and what you can tolerate.

It's great Dr. B can suggest that we take massive doses, but he's a man! And he may not have other issues.

This doc is truly on your side. Give the doc a chance. See how you do over a month or two's time. You may be surprised and your gut will thank you.

As someone who had to stop because of G. I. and other issues related to ABX, I'd appreciate a doc who thought about the side effects.
