nightsweats and babs

Question...

I have this a lot since being on mepron BUT they are not drenching. I wake up all the time sweating and feel like I am overheating. Don't remember this happening much before the mepron.

I also started synthroid about the same time for hypothyroid. Can't that cause sweating, too?

And...

I am 41. No signs of any premenopause yet. At all.
I guess just need opinion if the sweating from babs has to be severe to have that cause it.

I don't have those other symptoms. If anything I have no appetite. The sweating is always at night. I haven't noticed the heart palps.

If this is babs that I am dealing with does it go away? Must take awhile, huh?

On my ins form from my LLMD he has checked Lyme and babs but wondering if it is so ins will cover the mepron? I know he thinks the combo of mep and zithro can attack the Lyme. As I said I tested negative for babs.

Maybe he is treating me as if I have it anyway. My herx pain is unbearable in the back of my head and neck, too.

Maybe this coinfection is the reason I feel like I take 2 steps forward and one back with my symptoms...7 months into treatment and counting

i've always had nightsweats.. since i was kid, its mostly my legs that get hot.. sometimes they would be drenching to where i would have to replace the sheets... who knows....i could've been bit a long time ago, or it could be other things...

i have lack of appeitate also.. why? because i'm sad that i'm living life in bed now..

and the tickle in my throat will not go away.. its actually worse..

its tickles when i think about it.. sometimes i block it out and i'm good.. but other times i feel it because i know its there..

I get mild sweats at night, too. My relapses and illnesses have a lot of neck pain, but I thought that was the Lyme. I get slightly nauseiou and lose my appetite. The fatigue and flulike malaise complete the picture. No arthritic pain, however.

I've been treating with an LLMD 18 months, but I relapsed again two weeks ago. I had been on low doses of Flagyl 1/4 pill every other day since April. I think it triggered a Lyme Relapse. I've been reading other LLMD's always combine Flagyl with a cell wall drug because the Flagyl breaks the cysts open and another drug needs to kill it.

I'm beginning to think babesia is in the picture. My original illness 9 years ago began suddenly with high 103 fever, chills, and drenching sweats.

CherylSue, all of the symptoms you are describing can be from Babesiosis.  Many Lyme doctors believe the co-infections need to be treated first.  You may want to talk to your doctor about treating Babesiosis.

 

SWEATS! My experience is as follows: I Only had sweats in the beginning when I got bit for the 3rd time in 03--each time I had a bulls-eye and symptoms. I tested positive for Lyme. I Had doxycycline and amoxicycline for 6 months after doctor shopping for antibiotics each giving me 1 month.Then the sweating went away for a few years. In 05 sweats returned for a few weeks, then went away for a few years but many new severe symptoms came on such as dragging my entire left side. I went to over 32 doctors who said I had everything but Lyme.

I Finally found a LLMD in 07 I tested positive for Babesiosis but negative for Lyme-of course I still had it. After 3 months on Mepron tested negative but continued to have symptoms. I was started on zitho and mepron along with armour thyroid meds. I NEVER sweated until beginning my second year of mepron (I took it for almost 2 years!) They would come on almost immediately after taking it. I read in the literature that Mepron could cause sweating as a side effect. I left that LLMD for many reasons in addition to keeping me on mepron and I felt toxic after awhile.

Began with new LLMD in August of 08. He took me off Mepron and put me on Artimesia which I felt did not help in addition to minocycline and Rifampin for Bartonella which I tested negative for bu knew I had. At the same time the sweats came around the clock every 15 mins. I say sweats but I did not really sweat rather it was a fire from within--a heatwave that was worse than any hot flash I ever experienced, the actual sweating of sweat was mild. That continued for a few months ____every 15 mins! It was another added torture, I could set the clock by it.

Then in February sweats came less---every few hours round the clock, then became less and less as the months went on. I thnk they were actually from Bartonella because as I treated for that they became less. Last month along with Rifampin I began artimesinin at the suggestion of one of our forum members 3 times a day to cover babs along with the zithromax I have been taking for the past 2 weeks. Now the sweats come only occasionally during the day and a few times at night. They do not wake me like they used to. They could have been from Bartonella as well.

So bottom line, they do get less and someone else never really had them until she took mepron. Co-incidence? I don't think so. Reaction to mepron whether herx or what-ever yes. I definately think you should include artemesinin in the pure form not just any brand in your protocal.
