Just wondering if anyone on plaquenil has experienced getting more floaters, light sensitivity or any other effects on the eyes, because I think that is what is starting to happen to me now that I have been on it for 10 months?  Is it possible that it can start affecting the eyes more as time goes on? Any feedback would be great?

I believe it can... I had to stop taking plaquenil due to increased eye symptoms that went away when I stopped taking the medication. You might want to ask your doctor if it is ok to try going without it for a few days and see if you notice any difference...

Plaquanil can definately damage the eyes. Be careful when the optic nerve is dameged there is no repair.

While it seems to help many---I too had to stop plaquanil after only a few doses.

Thanks for your input. I have a feeling it is affecting my eyes, since I am pretty sure I had less when I was off the med. for a week or two.  What are the chances it is due to herxing being on abx for almost a year.

I think as long as bacteria is being killed one can herx no matter how long one has been on meds.

What is this symptom floaters that I have seen so many of you talk about? I saw a symptom of this woman on medical mysteries where the woman would look at the sky and say look at those birds and noone else could see them but her because there were no birds and she called it floaters. is that what you guys talk about? And what is the medical definition what physically is it that is in the eyesight?
