Hi All,

For those of you with eye pain or pressure, have you seen an eye doctor, and what have they told you?  Did anything show up on their tests?  Thanks, KO

A did go see someone a while back. I saw an optometrist. They tested my eye pressure (fine) and looked at my retina and all that (I told them about my floaters), and found absolutely nothing except that I have very slight astigmatism (but my eyes never bothered me until I got Lyme...and my one Dr says lots of Lyme folk get told they have astigmatism)

My next step was to try and see and an opthamologist, but I had a hard time getting a referral, since my eyes looked fine, and even if I got a referral, it would have taken months to get an appointment. And that's right around the time I started getting disoriented, so my eyes kind of dropped onto the back burner.

Right now, I'm just hoping Lyme treatment takes care of it.

However- if you do have pain, or pressure, it is worth getting your eye pressure checked (you can just go to a place where they give prescription- they all have the machine that does it).

I saw an opthamologist about a month after my eyes started hurting. He checked everything, but I would not let him dilate my eyes because that bothers me too much, even before lyme. Everything looked fine other than they were very dry, a condition I've had for years. I was concerned about inflammation, but he did not see any. They are slowly getting better. I've been on ceftin for two months and IV rocephin for almost six weeks. Initially, I could not read, watch TV or use the computer. I can do those things now, but I must limit them. If I am herxing, even mildly, my eyes are more sensitive to light and motion.

i was sent to my 1st specialist for my eyes about 6 months ago. this lady told me i had extreme dry eye caused by arthritis. i was given drops for this.

then about a month later i was placing the drops in my eye and found a lesion in my left eye.

i then went to a different specialist and had a MRI done. then i was sent to a eye surgeon. each one did eye test on me and said i have 20/20 vision, but cant find out why i cant see anything within arms reach, its all blurry.

i believe the lesion is the reason i have the pressure feeling in my left eye. but to date there is nothing being done to help me.

RD, Have you been back to any of the doctors to see what they say about the lesion? I would think they would want to treat that right away. Take Care, KO

the surgeon didnt seem to concerned about it. and things its like a pimple gone wild. so he release me from his care. the 1 eye Dr who sent me to him thought he would do a biopsy on it but he didnt.

my ins will not pay for me to go to a eye Dr. without a referral from a Dr. so i'm at there mercy. uggg

Oh yeah, I forgot to say. They didn't put drops in my eyes or anything, but they do do a bunch of things where I was looking at bright lights, or only using one eye towards the end of my exam, and my eyes were screwed up for the rest of the day. They were fully dilated all day- even when I was in the full sun! Luckily, that went away.

Hi All,
I have had the eye pressure/pain as well. For me it was my thyroid being too low. Now that I'm on thyroid med. it has eased up some. I

think it will be even better if the doc will up my thyroid dose, just wanting to wait about 6 weeks to make sure the dose I was started on had time to do it's thing.

After reading the posts here on this thread, I'm very grateful that I don't have those issues.

I've been dealing with a lot of little annoying eye issues that I never realized were related to LD. One day after experiencing painful pressure for close to 24 hours, I rushed to the eye doctor. She examined the eye and said everything looked fine and gave me drops. Before I even put the drops in the pain went away and has not come back but the other issues (dry eyes, watering, sticky feeling, floaters, blurryness, etc.) come and go just like all of the other LD symptoms I have. Ugh!

Your best bet would be to get a really good baseline eye exam just to make sure everything is okay.
