Sorry for all my posts :) I remember reading somewhere that 41 means old or new? I tried googling it but couldn't find anything.

Does not stand for old or new....In fact that is the one band that can stand for several other things besides Lyme.

IGeneX allegedly said only viral false Positives on IgM.
23, 31, 34 and 39 to varying degrees also can show false positives.
In one study roughly 40% of 320 people (negative control subjects) with no sign/symptom of lyme tested positive for 41.

What about
h. pylori - could that also cause a positive band 41? It is also a Spirochete...

"H. pylori is a helix-shaped (classified as a curved rod,
not spirochaete)
Gram-negative bacterium"

I don't know about
the other bands- but I was told that the either gum disease or syphilis can cause a cross reaction (ie false positive) on band 41, but if you don't have either one, than it would probably still mean Lyme.

Chuck,
Interesting... I'd heard more than once that h. pylori was a spirochete. Thanks for the info.

its clear to me that i have lyme,
band 18,28,39,41,45,58,66,93 all reactive. (41 reactive on igg, and 41 nonreactive on igm)
my doc tested me for co-infections and igenex came back - i got none of bart, babe, or eich. but predictive value for these igenex test less than 40%. so i mean ***.
2 days i get off medicine, cuz of bad reaction and my bones are falling apart again in a huge way today ankle, shoulder, neck back. fk me. i am screwed.

I've also read that Band 18 is highly specific for Lyme and that if that is positive, even if none of the others are, then you have Lyme (sorry, can't find the link for this).
