 Hi all and thank you to Cajungrl for replying to my last post.

Can you tell me please if the Western Blot Test can be done by my local GP ? or is it only LLMDs that offer that facility.

Any MD or Naturopath willing to sign the forms from IGeneX is fine. But results are usually best interpreted by an LLMD or LL Naturopath.

I had my GP order my western blot and it was run through labcorp. Both blots done were positive. I am now set up with a LLMD who runs specialized tests through Igenex.

Hi Momtomonsters thanks for you reply, that is really helpful I was just worried that if I asked my GP he would look at me as if I am talking a strange language

IGenix is well equipped to send the test kit anywhere in the world. If you call them and give them your address, then mail you the kit, complete with the international paperwork you need to fill out in order to send your blood into the US. I was quite surprised how easy it was to get tested here in Canada (not that any Dr here will even consider the results!). Even if your GP or specialists won't accept the results, you will have a better idea of what you are up against.

thanks Pattib and hockey Mom, I will try and get a kit sorted out as I could be hanging around for years waiting for a result, like us all I just want to know for sure, then as you rightly say at least I will know what I am up against.

Hi pidsea73, there is a lab in Scotland that does the westernblot through the NHS, I don't know how advanced or accurate the lab is yet but you may get a more realiable test than the current ELISA test carried out as standard via your GP. If you let me have your email address I'll mail you the name and address of the guy that performs them. All you can do is ask your GP to use that lab instead of the normal route which is in Southhampton and see if he/she will do that for you. I had 3 ELISA test done, all came back negative and a westernblot sent to Igenex that was positive. It's added cost to send blood to Scotland so don't bank on it.

Hi Mikazmat, thank you that would be so helpful to me, I was going to contact Igenix to ask if they would sent me a kit, mind you I was a bit worried as to how much it is going to cost me, does anyone know the cost ?.

Hi Kate, if your GP will send the blood to Scotland it shoudn't cost you anything (hopefully) as he takes NHS referral, but you need to suggest to him that the ELISA test in Southampton is not the most accurate test and confidance among the Bristish lyme suffers is low. I wouldn't know what the test would cost from Igenex, to be sent over here for you to do a GP assisted test, but as my test was performed through a private LLMD and sent to Igenex the cost was £600.00. They tested for bartonella and Babasia too. I will send you the name and address of the buy in Scotland and the name of my LLMD, research them via the internet. The help is no problem, we have to help each other as no one else (NHS) seems to understand what this very bizarre illness is capable of, except of cause the LLMD's.

Apart from a very bad stiff neck, that I've had a fortnight, my day has been not too bad thank you - I hope you are well.

Igenex is speciality lab, but the predictive value of the the co-infections is even lower than the predictive value of the lyme BB itself. However, false positives are rare, but false negatives can be high is what I am told. I have tested negative for all co-infections, but I am not sure if I trust the result.
3 days in a row i had numb hands and scalp.
also i used to have sweaty nights - dont have them any longer.
Also my joint pain went away with lyme treatment but my muscle pain has not!

so I believe i still possibly have coinfections but test don't show so. Luckily my doc understands the accuracy rate of the test, and he believes in what I symptoms look like, so he said, we will wait and watch here.
