A detox bath might help...sounds like a herx if she's had these symptoms before as a herx. Even if it is a virus or something, a detox bath would still be helpful. Instructions for detox baths and other detoxing methods are in the thread for those New to Lyme at the top of the forum.

I second what Razzle said about her doing a detox bath. Very important she detoxes while on abx. From what you've shared with us, it appears she's suffering with lyme toxins symptoms. Please go read the detox bath thread and get her in a bathtub as soon as possible. Only requires three ingredients; epsom salt, hydrogen peroxide and grated ginger all mixed into a tub of warm water. It could give her some immediate relief, not completely, but enough to help her feel better.

How long has she been on abx? It might be wise to take a abx break until her symptoms, especially her stomach calms down.

I would NOT have her take steroids unless her Lyme doctor approved it, and ONLY if her Lyme doctor approved it. Steroids and Lyme don't mix. Steroids could completely shut down her immune system and make her sicker than she's ever experienced. Take it from me, I've been through it. I truly thought I'd die after I had steroids put in my body. That horrible experienced lasted six months, the worst six months of my life. During that time I lost 75 pounds. Steroids+Lyme=Hell!

Please do not misunderstand what I am saying about steroids. I am in no way advocating for anyone to take steroids if they are not properly diagnosed with adrenal insufficiency! It is very important not to take steroids unless you need them, however, when you have an insufficiency of cortisol then you Need the steroids to survive.

I thought all of my symptoms were lyme related, got very sick, tried a detox bath, but since my problem was adrenal failure the detox bath made me more sick! All of the symptoms describe a lyme herx, but also describe an adrenal crisis.

Each of us has to know our own bodies, our own medical history, and make decisions based on those. Unfortunately many doctors do not think about adrenal problems until adrenal insufficiency is life threatening.

An adrenal crisis is nothing to mess with...I have nearly died from one. The likelihood is that it is just a herx or virus or something, but I just feel compelled to mention the seriousness of adrenal problems.

Glad this helped. Lyme is so insidious and can injur our bodies in so many ways. Unfortunately it seems that the adrenals will be affected by a long term infection, if nothing else they get tired. Not that everyone with lyme has adrenal insufficiency or needs treatment...most just need rest, time and ultimately to kill the lyme

Lyme destroyed my adrenal glands and I am still trying to fight the lyme disease while replacing the hormones from adrenals, thyroid, as well as several sex hormones...no fun!

Oh and another thought their are several antibiotics frequently used to treat lyme that should Never be taken by anyone who thinks they may have any level of adrenal problems. For instance Rifampin can actually Cause adrenal insufficiency!
