Babesia: Mepron vs Artemisinin vs A-Bab?

I learned today that my insurance WILL cover Mepron, which is what my Dr wants to prescribe. May I get a few peoples' opinions/experiences w/ Mepron, and Mepron vs Artemisinin vs A-Bab?

My son was prescribed Mepron in July. He had a hard time with it. It caused him much fatigue. He is currently taking a break from it and we find he has more energy and he appetite has returned. I know it is a great medication and he will likely go back on. We will just have to pulse it. 3 weeks on and 3 weeks off.

I hope it works well for you and you experience no side effects

I've only have been on A-bab. I don't have insurance, so I am going the "natural" route. I'm happy with it. I detox a lot every day, so I have not had too many herx problems. Although the stuff is REALLY powerful and really works. $100 (per bottle) for about 2-4 months of treatment, so it is relatively friendly for the non-insured.

I have not taken A-Bab, but have been on both Artemisinin and Mepron on the past. I was cured of that infection, and am now on Artemisinin again for a subsequent infection. Both medicines are very effective. Mepron is a wee bit expensive, and resembles the stuff they paint the lines of the road with, but it surely does the job.

Well, then, I think I will give the Mepron a shot -- esp since I have read that it is sometimes used to treat Lyme as well. Do you think this is true? If it is, then I will have 3 weapons against Lyme (augmentin, LDN, and mepron), w/ one of them a weapon against Babs.

As for abx, folks, I have no intention of staying on abx for years. (except possibly the LDN, which supposedly can halt the growth of many cancers. I think I would be safe to work this way for a year, adding detox, dietary corrections, plus more walking --- the day before yesterday I was actually able to walk very briskly w/ my dogs on one trail at the park, then back up the shortest one. And yesterday, I was actually able to hike our 2 favorite trails thru the woods, which I have not been able to do in a long time. And it did not esp tire me.

NOw I'm sure not talking major hikes, or even 3 mile hikes. I don't know their distance, however, we used to walk 4 trails which took over an hour, but lately I've only been able to walk the main trail going straight down to the lake, and had a very difficult time walkiing back. This trail back and forth is probably about 1 mile. We had missed our hikes on our woods trails.

I hope this is not just temporary -- it felt so different! I still have to use my walking stick because of so much back pain, related to rotoscoliosis and maybe possibly Lyme as well.

I will try saying 'yea rah Mepron!'
