anyone taking or has taken levequan for bartonella?

My doctor had me take it for a week to see if it would spark symptoms of bartonella.  And yes it did.  That was a while back.  He then put me on azithromyicin.

Hi Ann, oh I thought the levequan was the treatment for bartonella. Humm? so then you mean your doctor gave it to you to see a specific reaction which would indicate bartonella? what were the symptoms?
did you get rid of the bartonella? how long , how much azithromyicin ?

thankyou for picking this post back up. a lot of us have bartonella and I know my Dad does.

Bucci, I am taking Cipro for Bart, which I'm pretty sure is somewhere in the Levequan family. Have been doing this long enough that I don't think my combination is working, but for a few months I could tell a big difference with the Cipro. I have an appt. Thursday with my LLMD-in-training and I expect to completely change my abx.

AnneRoto, why did your doctor test you with the Levequan then treat you with something else? If Levequan could give you what sounds like a herx, then why change it??? Curious.

Hey Mamyou, that is interesting to me too and I also took cipro for pic line infection and my doctor told me to take for as long as I could but I didn't even last 18 days. I was in a lot of pain and had to take more pain meds to even tolerate it and eventually just stopped taking it. But I thought the same thing that if it was in same family as levequan then it was good for the bartonella.

Interesting though when you think about how they give out cipro all the time for bladder infections.

I am trying to figure out what abx is good for my family to just be taking on and off all the time to get them functioning better in the brains . I just found out that an infectious diseas doctor here had my Dad on some type of antibiotic even though he couldn't prove the lyme .( he didn't use IGENEX)

I've heard this before about people just staying on abx forever and actually feeling better instead of trying to blast it out with strong abx protocols and IV.
