It isn't unusual for me to eat rice for breakfast, since that's one of the few foods I'm able to eat (long, long list of food allergies/sensitivities...thanks to undiagnosed Lyme >30 yrs). I put organic butter, organic oregano and organic parsley on it to jazz it up a bit.
My DH has joint problems from steroids and he finds MSM to be tremendously helpful for joint pain (I'd take it too, but I have a sensitivity to sulfites because of methylation genomic variants, and MSM is essentially all sulfite).
I take Nettle leaf powder for my joint pains (from Lyme) and it seems to work quite well for me. I got the idea from S.H. Buhner's "Healing Lyme" book. You can find more info on his herbal Lyme protocol from

Edited to add: And I'd strongly recommend Omega-3 Fish Oil supplement....my DH loves his Cod Liver Oil - he says it helps him feel better overall, and it is helping him with his bone density (nothing else helped before he took the fish oil; he tried prescription meds and they only made him sick).
