New to Lyme & Looking for LLMD in Massachusetts

hi everyone,

i've never known or wanted to have to know anything about Lyme, but about a month ago, i was hospitalized for meningitis, which the doctors told me was viral. during my hospitalization, they ran lyme testing (still not sure which ones, have to go get the records), and upon meeting with my primary care for follow-up after meningitis hospitalization, they told me that my first, 'short' lyme test was positive, and that the 'longer' one was negative, so i need not worry. ? when i called to inquire and get another doctor's opinion on the results, they got in touch with the infectious disease dr (who is supposedly the 'local lyme expert') who said that i don't need any more testing because i just show old lyme exposure, and that the meningitis was most likely viral.

anyways, i'm still unsettled about it all, needless to say, i'm also a worry wart. but i don't want to miss something here, and years later, develop debilitating symptoms because i decided to ignore this test result. i currently don't have any symptoms (my head pain took about two weeks to go away on its own - although they did give me a couple ivs of abx in the hospital, but didn't send me home on meds after the two days in the hospital), except not being able to sleep from being somewhat stressed about this whole thing.

i am looking for a good lyme literate doctor in Massachusetts. i don't have great insurance, and cost is an issue. but hoping some names given will match up with my Commonwealth Care state insurance plan providers.

also, i have a 3 and 1/2 year old son. if i was exposed before i got pregnant with him, does that mean that he is infected? i am so clueless about all of this!

You will want to find an ILADS (International Lyme And Associated Diseases Society) doctor. The ILADS site is a great place to read to get you started on your Lyme journey.
