Lymes bullseye, poison ivy and NASH liver disease

I am new here and looking for information. I began breaking out 11-12 days ago with what started as 1-2 spots on my calf and the back of my thigh. I am 53, never had poison ivy before and if exposed it had been 5 days prior to the outbreak. The spot on the back of my thigh looked different than the rest, thought maybe a spider bite. Luckily I went to the drs. for the poison ivy 3 days after continuing to break out...luckily because, yes I did have poison ivy but also because the spot on the back of my thigh was much worse. The dr. stated classic bullseye from a tick (no tick on me at that point). So I was put on IC Doxycycline 100mg caps 2x per day for 21 days. Have been on them faithfully for 9 days. The bullseyes eventually went from 2" diameter-4" to 6" and then was probably at least 8" before it began to lessen. The poison ivy worsened and I was put on IC Prednisone 10mg tabs. 2/day for 7 days, 1/day for 7 days and then finally 1/2/day for 7 days. I have now been on it for 7 days total and begin the decline dose tomorrow. I also have NASH liver disease though at last labs this past year my enzymes were only slightly elevated. I am waiting now to hear from the dr. office as I went for a massage today and my therapist declined to do the massage as she feels I may be going systemic with the poison ivy...my torso has a rash that I have awoken with in the morning the past 2 days, is slightly itchy, subsides throughout the day with only minor irritation. My concern is actually a few things....could the meds. not be working as they should due to 1. dealing with dual issues (lymes and poison ivy) 2. could the effectiveness of the meds be hindered by NASH liver disease 3. Could the torso rash be something other than poison ivy...ie. something to do with the tick bite. 4. Unsure how to proceed from here. My daughter is pregnant, due Sept 2 and may be induced earlier due to BP issues...I am headed out to her place when this happens which is a 9 hour drive away. I want to get all of this lymes/poison ivy issues dealt with prior to departure but I have no clue what could be going on. As I said I am waiting to here from my drs. office as I stopped in there this afternoon after the massage therapist felt I was systemic with the poison ivy...I had hoped they might see me upon stopping in...but they just said they would call. If I havent heard by tomorrow morning I will call again. Just wondering if anyone here has dealt with dual and/or triple issues such as these...if anyone knows if the liver disease can hinder treatment of either lymes or poison ivy in any way. Thank you for your response to my post. What is the usual dose for the doxy for lymes? They didn't do any testing other than saying it was a classic bullseye from a tick..should they have done other testing? I did do as many homeopathic cures as possible prior to them putting me on the prednisone. Not thrilled to be taking it and will definitely talk with my dr. about it tomorrow. I have done oatmeal baths, calamine lotion, benedryl, tecnu soap and today went to the local healthfood store. I picked up some different natural options to help with itching. My massage therapist also gave me some willowwater, she had used it on fire ant bites and it helped a lot.
I will talk with the dr. about all of this when I see her. Hopefully she is versed in lymes, the proper doses etc. The dr. that prescribed the antibiotic initially and the prednisone was not my reg. dr., someone I had never seen before.

I'm hoping to not overwhelm you with 3 mods posting, but I wanted to explain what the prednisone does when a person has Lyme disease, as your doctor may not know this if they are not keeping up with the science.

Prednisone lowers the immune system, giving any infection that you have the upper hand since the immune system can't fight it when it's lowered like that. Lyme disease is good at avoiding the immune system anyway. So this it's a really bad idea to put a person with Lyme (or any tick-borne infection) on prednisone, unless they are dealing with a life threatening situation that ONLY steroids will help.

You need to be weaned off the prednisone carefully, but quickly. If your doctor doesn't agree with this, I would highly suggest that you get a doctor that does understand Lyme - a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (LLMD).

Thank you for your responses. I talked with my dr. today and they have taken me off the doxy...they think the rash is in response to that...changed me to Cefuroxime axetil tabs at a much higher dose. I was on 100mg 2x per day and now I am on 500mg 2x per day. Tapering off the predisone as well. Thank you everyone for your input and advice. I see my dr. next week (if not out for the birth of my new granddaughter by then) and will discuss more in depth with her about the ramifications of Lymes and what to look for or do in the future once this course of meds is complete. I hope this will take care of it but have no clue on that one. I certainly will be even more viligent that I was previously in checking myself for ticks. I have always checked myself after finding one attached to my stomach many years ago, did a course of meds then as it had just attached...but scared the bejibbers out of me. I just missed this one for sure.
