Hi. I had an upper body deep tissue massage yesterday. It felt great at the time, but now I feel horrible today...herxing possibly? When I herx I get very tearful, my response to pain I guess, and I have been crying all day. I have been on treatment for 3 months: Byron Whites formulas, Chinese herbs, Vit D3, and Magnesium, detox baths, Zoloft, Seroquel, and Clonazepam on occasion. Anyone ever felt horrible after a massage? If yes, do you think it just stirs the Lyme up or helps mobilize them to get them out?

Oh butterfy, I know exactly how you feel. The massages feel so great because we ache so much, but according to my LLMD and many others, deep tissue massages are a no-no. The reason is because LD can go into cyst form and a deep tissue massage can cause them to burst and all the lyme bacteria in the cyst is now out, whether active or dying and you go into a massive herx. Stay away from those massages.
On the other hand, one type of massage that is suggested is a Lymphatic Drainage Massage. It helps drain the lymph nodes very gently. Great if they are swollen. The massage is to be done with a very gentle touch and no cysts burst.
Good luck!

Darn it, no wonder why I feel like poop! That makes sense how you explained it. Thanks for the response. I will look into the lymphatic drainage massages instead for next time. It was weird bc right after the massage I felt super foggy but had a massive amount of energy for like an hour and then crashed.

Yeah.. thats how it happens too.. You feel great and then you crash. Remember, even when getting the Lymphatic Massages to always drink a lot of water. Also, if you have insurance, many times these are covered by insurance. Many times there are centers (many people who have blood clots in there legs, as well as other reasons) need these massages. Look into whether or not there is one in your area. Then ask your doc to give you a referral. Never know..
Good luck, and let me know you if have an other questions..

I get lymphatic drainage massages weekly and I usually do not feel well a few hours after up until a full day after. It releases toxins into your system so it would only make sense that you would not feel well. Drink tons of water and do your detox rituals. It should subside by tomorrow.

Thanks everyone. I am feeling much better, it took a 1 1/2 days to subside. No more deep tissues massages for this one...or at least until I am cured.
