I get this sensation that I am "vibrating", almost like an internal shaking. It's definitely worse when I am flaring bad and all of my symptoms are bad. It's most noticeable when I'm laying down and it's mainly in the back of my head and neck. Anyone else get this? It's annoying, but also makes me anxious.

This feeling has been with me for over a year. Some days are worse than others, today it was bad. I notice it most when sitting, and also especially in the morning. My hormone Dr thought I may need more cortisol to alleviate this but upping my cortisol only made me more jumpy and nervous.

I believe many people have this sensation. Also my hands tremble which is a pain to deal with.

When I saw the title of this thread I just said: 'OOOh yeah!'

I've had this for years, I can't find a pattern in it. It's a silent but very present vibration. It's not like I'm shaking  or anything, it doesn't last for hours either.

Why do think it's "internal" as opposed to actual motion? There may be motion but with a very low-amplitude, like a tuning fork. How fast is it, in number of times per second? Can you tell or is too fast? Have you had an EMG study done?

it feels like the vibration is in the inside of my body, that's why I experience it as an internal thing. It feels real, not just an impression, a very delicate vibration. Like there's a buzzer inside my body. It's too fast to tell how many times/sec.

EMG? no, def not for me, very bad experience with EMG, will only be doing it again if I have no other choice...

I notice this too when I am flaring. It feels like buzzing all over inside your body. I usually experience it when I am sleeping and it wakes me up. Sometimes I notice it when I am awake but not as intense. When I first got sick, 8 yrs ago I did it so bad you could see my legs jump and my body tremble. It was one of my first symptoms. And the Drs all said it was anxiety related! You cannot make your body vibrate like that.

I get this, it feels like I might be shaking or having tremors, but when I look I don't see anything shaking.

I have this too. It's worse for me when I'm tired. Sometimes when I'm trying to fall asleep it actually keeps me awake. I recently went through a "spell" where it was so bad I didn't get a full night's sleep for almost a week. I'm actually going to talk to my doctor about an Rx for me to keep on hand for when it gets bad again. I was getting delusional from lack of sleep, and I already struggle with insomnia.

Does anyone take anything that helps? I was thinking some type of benzo (full sp?), like valium, because I know some have said it helps with tremors.

Be sure that what you are feeling isn't anxiety - lots of times an anxiety attack for me would start off with or have it join in or even end with that internal vibration feeling. I'm not saying that it's anxiety for sure, but it's worth it to know if you are dealing with a low level of anxiety.

The adrenals are hard hit with chronic Lyme most of the time and run down adrenals can cause anxiety attacks, so be sure to know how well your adrenals are doing! Mine suffer greatly, poor things! giggle!

Thanks everyone! Sounds like I'm not alone. I don't think it's anxiety, doesn't feel like that. And it's always worse when I'm laying down resting, either watching t.v., reading, or trying to fall asleep.

I've had an EMG, all was normal. EVERYTHING has come back normal, except for a tilt table test that showed I have POTS. I guess that's a good thing and even more reason for the Drs. to think I was nuts, lol!

Lymer-Before I knew I had Lyme, my PCP said that all of my symptoms were PPD and PP anxiety. I was having insomnia, so he prescribed Clonazepam, which is a sedative like valium, but lasts longer and is less addictive. The only problem is, the body builds a tolerance and becomes dependent. When I stopped taking it, I didn't sleep for days. And I was taking the lowest dose (.5mg). However, if you use take something like that sparingly, like 1 night/week, your body will not become dependent.

I sleep fairly well now, except when I'm in a really bad flare. If I have a night when I'm having trouble sleeping, I take a neurontin. It's for neuropathy, but is also sedating. It usually does the trick, doesn't make me groggy the next day, and is non-addictive.

Some people swear by Melatonin, but it made all of my symptoms worse.

Also, magnesium relaxes the body and causes sleepiness.

Well, I'm glad to hear that you aren't dealing with anxiety! It can be a stinker to deal with!

And you're sleeping well??? Now you have me jealous!!! Giggle!

I have had the vibrating for almost eight years. I call my body a beehive as it feels like it is full of bees buzzing around in me. It never goes away, it just is stronger at times. Sometimes I'm just distracted from it if I keep busy and keep my mind on something else, but most of the time, it is in full swing.

What has worked for me is a tincture called Avena Sativa- wild oats in the "milky" stage. It's calmed all of the extra nerve sensations that I used to get, as well as the constant 'buzzing/burning' in my hands/fingers & feet toes. I know that it won't work for everyone, but if anyone wants to give it a try, it's not terribly expensive and I've been using it for over 8 months now.

Yes, I sleep well most of the time now and I do have to say, it's WONDERFUL!
At the beginning of getting ill, right after having my daughter, I had severe insomnia. I would wake up w/ all of the neuro. symptoms that I have and then anxiety would kick in from not knowing what was wrong and I'd be awake for hours. It was awful!
It just seemed to subside over time. I still have an occasional night w/ difficulty sleeping, probably about 1 night per week or every other week, not bad at all.

I to have this, and it drives me nuts. Mine gets so bad that I cannot think straight and I feel horrible. Also my hands start to shake just a little. I am on quite a few medications because of my CRPS, and none of them work. Lyrica, Baclofen, Percocet,Viibryd, Lunesta, and nortriptolin. I can be so out of it in the evenings when my meds kick in so I can go to sleep and that darn headache can stand in my way of getting sleep. And if I wake up, oh, the fight is on! I have tried meditations to try to ignore them, watching tv helps a little, but my vision gets so blurry and I want to read or write and they won't cooperate with me and makes me have the other headache..yes, I get 2 types of headaches at the same time and it is totally miserable. I do not have a Lyme doctor, I just now realized that my treatment from 2000 didn't work, and I have no insurance to handle this. My CRPS is being treated by workers comp since I was injured on the job. So it looks like we really have no anwer here. Oh, and I tried fiorocet for my headaches too, didn't work. No over the counter stuff works, but I haven't tried many holistic or herbal stuff other than feverfew and white willow bark, and they don't work either. I have also started feeling this trembling feeling in my intestines, at first I just thought that it was my bowels moving, but no, it is that same rythmical trembling that I am feeling in my head. Someone mention shock like feeling in the fingers, was that this thread?

Hi Gypsy Jadiee,
I realize that your in a tough spot, but can you get in to see either a Holistic practitioner or a LLMD? That would be your best bet - to get in and be evaluated for these infections, as the pain that you are in can easily be explained by having Lyme or one of the other tick-borne infections also. There are also natural protocols that a person can do at home that you may want to consider.

There are actually very few pain meds that worked for me - natural or pharmaceutical. I had to turn to acupuncture for pain relief. I'm sure that others would be happy to share with you what has worked for them.

Yes, aren't those headaches wicked!! I too can have more than one type of headache at a time, thanks to these lovely infections! I do everything I can to treat the ones I can, like tension headaches, and use heat, ice packs as well as teas -like "Tension Tamer"- to help ease things. Lots of times some meditation helps also.

LOL! I too have to use a whole "cocktail" of things to get some sleep!! I have trouble with restorative sleep, getting to sleep and staying asleep! Things have eased up some as I've gone through treatment, but I'm still dealing with it.

I'm not sure which thread you are referring to about the shock feeling in your fingers, but that is part of Neuro Lyme for many of us here, as well as the tingling and burning. It got pretty intense for me, but again, with treatment things have eased up considerably.

It is not anxiety, it is physiological. These people are describing exactly the experience, vibrating, shaking inside. At times hands shake but usually inside. At times would wake me up was vibrating, shake so hard. Not anxiety at all although the experience can make one anxious, scared until realize it is just another bizarre symptom. I've had times when I had anxiety (a horrible experience) this vibrating is very real. At this time the vibrating has become less intense. So it can get better. Still no clue what causes it.

I've been getting this sensation ever since I became sick. I know it is Lyme-related...though I have read specifically it can be Bart related (and also heard that from my doctor). Very strange sensation...

The vibrations/internal tremors were one of my first symptoms. For the first couple months they would come on in the late afternoon and last about 4 hours. At the same time my nerve pain on my upper left side would ramp up (was diagnosed with a pinched nerve months previous to the vibrations...but now thinking it was the start of lyme symptoms)

I also had twitching of muscles all day - all over my body...different muscles at different times.
I believe I have serious nervous system involvement.
Over the months the vibrations got worse - starting sometimes in the morning, on and off all day...and then late afternoon coming on with nerve pain for the evening.

Since treatment I find that many days now they are a "toned down" version of what they used to be...but I now get a lot of shivers periodically through the day...which are similar...but not quite the same.

Try and explain these symptoms to a Dr. - without them thinking you're cuckoo..and needing psych meds.

YUP I get this too. It's like pulsating in parts of my body. In spine, in arm, in leg.
I can see the muscle twitching too at times when I feel the pulsations. It causes visible movement.
I feel palpatation feelings in spine.

Oh, I know what you mean! It's so odd. Sometimes u wake up in the night because of it.
