Has anybody used samento and what dose? My dr said to use capsules at 500 mg each 2 x a day. The vitamin store I went to did not sell capsules. They only sold liquid in cats claw. My dr said not to take the liquid. Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks. LaLa

hi lala, I get whole organic powder from Chinese herbs and I take 3-450 mg pills x 4 times a day. This is what Buhner recommends but I started at 3 a day and worked my way up. This is non-standardized powder not sure if they make standardized or not. I follow Buhners protocol. You can check out his site at buhnerhealinglyme.com and they also have suppliers of herbs. My rite aid recently started carrying cats claw pills

Did you mean to say Samento? Samento is only liquid, isn't it? Saventaro is the TAO-free cat's claw in capsule form. It's by Enzymatic Therapy. Works well but pretty expensive. You can't take it in as big of doses as Buhner's Cat's Claw protocol without paying for it both in money and in pain.

Or, do you mean actual Cat's Claw? I've been getting mine online - usually through Amazon. My dose is Buhner's maximum dose - 4 500 mg capsules, 4x's/day. I will probably back off of that soon.

Both me and my daughter take Saventaro. It is nearly the same thing, although I see that Saventaro comes from the root and Samento comes from the inner bark (I don't know if different brands have it coming from different parts).

My daughter is 17 and has been taking it for over 2 years at 20 mg, or 1 capsule by a company called Integrative Therapeutics. I take 2 capsules a day (40 mg). I have been on it for a few month, but I certainly did feel the herx. My daughter stopped taking it for a while and her period got much worse and much more painful. I notice it really helps menstrual pain and symptoms. Normally on my first 2 days, I am in bed with a heating pad and pain meds (same as my daughter). While on this, we barely even notice!

Hey opugirl and wisconsin - what do you see that this does for you at such a high dose? I can't imagine tolerating it that high! I herx off 40 mg!

@Sam, I wonder if your pills are standardized, mine are not - it is whole herb so that may account for the difference. I don't think I've herxed on this. So far the only one I've definitely herxed with is the sida acuta tincture for bartonella.

hi everyone,
I am new to this the dr wants me to start taking samento I am looking on line at prices an I am wondering how long a bottle will last? I have lost my job over a year ago do to being so sick an have no more monies I will be borrowing an don't know how long a bottle would last any help will be great. and any other advise as I am also on doxy, maralone, plaquil for lyme ,ny statin, an aspriso.. probiotics an prebiotics both prescription an over the counter for my ulcerative colitis, I have to go to bladder dr weekly to put cathedra in. an have had c-diff I think im getting better as I am able to see, walk etc again mind you things cause by lymes an I have more to much to write but someone please help to know how many bottles to drops a month I may need I have not ordered yet I do not know how to tell ( family or friend do not who yet what I need to borrow don't even know if they will help yet ) oh dr said have to be on drops not pills PLEASE HELP
