Anyone know what HLA DRB1 & DRB345 results mean?

Does anyone know how to read the results of an HLA DRB1, DRB345 (IR) test? I got mine from Labcorp today. My loose understanding is that it is a genetic test that measures Human leukocycte antigens and will tell me if I am more likely to be among the 80% of people who can be cured from Lyme or the 20% who will possibly need life-long treatment with the current treatments we have available. My doctor's office is open next on Tuesday and of course I am curious now.

Hey Garfield. Hope this helps you. This is the Rosetta Stone that you need to interpret everything. It's pretty neat. I used it to interpret mine long after my doc had told me the basic results. I just wanted to understand it all. I think I read that this info is on biotoxin.com as well but this is what I used. Good luck. I have one pair of the dreaded genes but not both so it makes it harder for me but not impossible to get rid of lyme. I just don't detox well and to top it off I no longer have a gallbladder which is proving to be a major piece to effectively detox so I've had to be more creative!

thank you justascarf. Not quite sure I completely understand it. Is there more info about the Rosetta Stone that would help?

My results say
DRB1*01:UZNS
DRB1*15:UZTD
DRB5*01:01

(there is then a line with a list of numbers after UZNS, same for UZTD)

So does that mean I have 2 different alleles for DRB1 and am homogenous for DRB5? And if I'm reading it right than I have one allele for Chronic Lyme but not two.

Also I read somewhere if there is a number followed by letters it means they aren't 100% sure of the interpretation - the number is the most likely allele.

Maybe my test results will help. The dreaded ones are 4-3-53 and 11(12)-3-52B. If you hav both you struggle

Chrinic lyme ones are: 15-6-51 or 16-5-51. If you have both you also struggle and one with the dreaded one makes it very difficult to detox enough

My results were:
DRB1
DRB1*01*01
DRB1*11:MTRY
HLA DQ
DQB1*03:JWKT
DQB1*05:DFT
DRB3
DRB3*02:FVGA

Based on instructions my translations would be:
B1 01
B1 11
DQ 03
DQ 05
52B 02 (homozygous)

The only part I am not sure about is if you then place the genotype sin two columns, one for each parent, do you read this by patent or if you have the combo from the parents is that correct?

for me I have:
DRB1. DQ. DRB3
01. 03. 52B
11. 05. 52B

That means i have nothing but if you can combine the two numbers like 11 03 52B then I also have a dreaded and 1 5 would be low MSH. My doctor said I had one pair of the dreaded but not both which would mean difficulty detoxing. Based on his statement then it sounds like you can combine the two genes from parents. Not sure though.


Did you have a DQ result? If so then you do have one of the chronic lyme alleles. I feel like you are missing a pair of results. I think you should have a pair of DRB1, DQ and then one DRB5 since you are homozygous there.

I am going to try to check out the book from the library and see if I can understand more. Hope this helped a bit.

I don't have any DQ result. There isn't even a spot for it on the report, just missing. Hopefully that is good . . .

This is all I have:
DRB1 01
DRB1 15
DRB5 01:01

So
DRB1 DQ DRB5
01 - 15
01 - 15

So that looks to be good relative to the chart you sent best I can tell.

I will be curious to see what your doctor tells you. I think you are correct though I had thought that maybe you had one of the lyme alleles. Keep me posted on how things go for you. Maybe we can both unlock the mystery of this test and the results!

Wow.. I looked at that rosetta stone that you posted, justascarf2. I tried to appy it to your results, and I can't for the life of me figure it out.. Usually I am pretty good at these things, but this is Greek to me!! I may be contacting you when my results come in!!

Feel free to contact me. I would love to help out as much as I can. I actually had a fun time doing it the first time. If you need help I'm here. I am hoping to get a hold of the copy of the book to get more detail too but all of the genetic stuff is pretty neat.

Hi Justascarf - it looks like with the change in how Labcorp is doing the lab, my LLND is saying he can't 100% confirm the results. I wonder if anyone else is running into that.

"The lab changed recently and they dropped one of the values on it that would be useful here
however, you have the genetics that looks like you have "post lyme infectious syndrome" genetics. Meaning, that symptoms persist due to genetics.
As I said. I can't confirm that perfectly due to the recently dropped lab value, but you have 2 of the 3 post lyme genes (HLA DRB1:15 and DRB5:1)"

I don't see him for another 5 weeks to get any additional information he might have to say.

It looked like what I suspected. I assumed that no matter which parent you got your genes from, the combo of the numbers would indicate that on your test results you have the lyme genetics but only one set of them so that's good news. This change by labcorp explains why I was asking for another set of numbers but you didn't have any! Good luck and thanks for letting us know what you found out. It's helpful for me when I'm reading old posts to have all of the info to see how the story ended!
