Anyone on clarithromycin?!?!

I have been reading through all the threads and I haven't seen anyone on clarithromycin for Lyme. I take 1000 mg a day. Now i am extremely curious. This is the only abx he started me on thus far. It's been five days and I haven't felt too terrible. Just some stomach cramps, headache and EXAUSTION! Family took my 1 and 3 year old today and I slept from 10 am to 6pm!!!!! That hasn't happened in years! I was able to eat dinner. I started the gluton free diet, but did have some jolly ranchers :-(.

Please let me know what you think...maybe my Lyme isn't too bad?!? Dk


P.S. sent hubby to the store to buy 5 bottles of peroxide, 5 bags of Epsom salt, a bath brush, ginger and mustard power and he thinks they put him on a "list" lol, for a drug maker, terrorist or something!!!! LOL he's funny!!

I'm on it and have been on it for months at your dose. I took it briefly alone once before and my main herx effect was massive anxiety. When I take it alone, I have horrible anxiety but physically I don't feel so bad. When I first took it in a strong combination with other meds I herxed SEVERELY but only for a week or so.

Five days is sometimes early to notice herxing. I usually mildly herx right when I start a med. In the second week I feel better than usual and then in the third week I herx severely before going back to my "typical level." So far my only good weeks of improvement are in the 2nd week of new meds.

I like Biaxin. I think that it's a good Lyme med. Of the macrolides, a lot of Lyme doctors feel like it's slightly more effective than zithromax and doesn't absolutely have to be combined with Plaquenil to increase effectiveness.

Zithromax is in the same family. They're both pretty good for Lyme but Biaxin may be a little stronger in oral form. I get a ton of OCD as part of my herxing anxiety also.

My first antibiotic was clarithromycin and it did wonders for me.  I was on it for a few months and my symptoms decreased  greatly.
