low libido and lyme?

Interested to hear if any have low libido with Lyme? confused   Feeling is that I may have been affected by Lyme since 2002.  Have some ED issues since that time and diminished libido.  I read that the endocrine system can be affected.  Am 48, male.  If it is lyme will all correct itself the longer I stay on treatment?  Plan to ask my LLMD when I see him in April.

I did read something on men having low testosterone, when having Lyme disease, and should be tested. I am not sure where I saw the article, but I bet if you Google it you probably can pull it up.

Both my libido and hunger have been drastically diminished as in gone pretty much. I sure hope it goes away with treatment!!! I did have a naughty dream the other night so we will see. Also, I hadn't dreamt in years and after only a month of treatment I occasionally remember my dreams now. I guess some things take a little longer.

I've been having those dreams too. More so since I've been treating.
My libido has definitely increased during treatment, so there is hope hang in there.
I think lyme and friends are capable of reaking havoc with every bodily system. Unless there's permanent damage, i believe most issues will resolve with treatment in time :-)

My libido was going up and down over the years being ill, but it's almost gone since I started treatment... I think my body has other priorities while herxing or flaring...

I am exactly like you MarieLS, but I find it a problem in my relationship as my spouse doesn't really want to be celibate but I have a hard time finding any time that I feel good enough or interested enough to go there. If it was just me- it wouldn't bother but I would like to keep my relationship- what to do. We are working on our marriage in therapy right now so we will see what she says when this comes up!!

I'm sorry if TMI for some...
Me and my husband talk about it... I do my best to give him what he needs when I'm up to it, cause he's already putting up with much. Sometimes I force myself, but at the end it feels good. He kind of senses it when it's not 'the' moment at all. He never 'forces' anything.
Sometimes I don't keep it in mind that I'm weak, and then afterwards I literally start trembling on my legs...
I'm lucky that he's not 'all' physical all the time. He's got a good dose of self discipline.
I hope your relationship makes it through it - it affects us and our surroundings in soooo many ways...

Oh, isn't that the truth!! I think I just have to force myself b/c if I wait until I feel like it, the world may end. LOL

Lyme is very difficult on our bodies, I mean I don't know what I will be able to do form one minute to the next. I am 37 , and some days feel like I am 100. I believe it's very hard on relationships also, I know with me, my husband try to help as much as he can, but it's very difficult for him to understand , the amount of pain that I am in from day to day.

Its very difficult to have a sexual relationship with your partner, with some days we feel so horrible. I usually have about one day a week where I am not in pajamas. I often feel like how long will he put up with me being sick all the time, doesn't he deserve someone that is not.

I just feel the Lyme lowers are self esteem so much , we are sick, are minds are foggy, I am crabby, not the person I used to me before the Lyme. Hang in there hopefully soon we will all be well.

I do think if someone loves you they should love all of you. Also we have to take the good with the bad in a marriage. It's easy to walk away, it's a lot harder to work through problems, and stay together.

Just my thought on the whole thing.

I know just me- my husband tries to be supportive but it is really hard on the family- he doesn't know what to expect from day to day- neither do I. He is overly encouraged by my good days and I am just super frustrated.

WE are doing counseling right now and I think we will make it through- we have 3 kids and really want to make it work but how much can one take. But we took vows in good times and in bad, in sickness and in health. Well, here we are- man up I say. I am forced to be strong to get through it.

I hardly get out of jammies either some days/weeks, but my only goal outside of taking care of me is to take care of those kids, but what a big load, but I can only do the most important things. Unfortunately, hubs usually comes last but I have to change that a bit...

I've honestly had the opposite problem at times with time, where my libido seems to be greatly increased. Of course, I'm my body, pain, fatigue and weakness always are a bigger issue.

LOL @ Anduncan...its probably all those parasites your harboring saying "Go forth and spread your seed or erg, egg(?) and hence ourselves!"

Well, I can say that now I have a decent libido! There was a looooong period of time where I didn't care if I had a libido or not (somehow poor hubby put up with that!), but now that my treatments may be ending, things are improving greatly!
