Cefdinir vs Doxy

Minocycline is a substitute for doxy as it's in the same class. It has double the tissue penetration as doxy so it can be dosed at half the mg. strength.

Most LLMD's prefer doxy only because mino may cause dizziness. I never tried it but if she can tolerate it then it's the better drug with its superior CNS penetration.

Thanks Todd and Jitzoo. She had an emtional day yesterday after 3 good days. She woke up very tired today not sure if it is the ABX or hust emotionally drained or both.

I started my antibiotics last week. Starting on day 3, I have been overly emotional as well. Anxiety and depression are my main lyme symptoms ( never been a problem before). Now that I am on meds the anxiety and depression is horrible. I look at it as a good sign that I am herxing and this is normal. I have definitely trying to dig my way out of this black hole. Tell her to hang in there. My really bad moments are easing up bit by bit.

Cefdinir is a different group of abx. than Doxy.

Doxy and Mino. are in the same class of abx. Mino crosses the Blood Brain Barrier better than Doxy, but it can cause dizziness. I'm on it, but did not experience any dizziness from it.

Each abx. kills a different form of the bacteria (spirochete, L-form, cyst form).

The combination that her LLMD is putting her on is a great combo. I'm on Cefdinir, Mino, and Grapefruit Seed Extract (cyst buster)

It sounds like she has already started herxing. The protocol she's on is a tough one; she may herx badly.

If it gets too bad, she'll need to decrease the abx. dosages for a while and slowly work her way up.

Also, make sure she's detoxing a lot.
