Rifampin questions, side effect questions.

Hi,

I am on 6 plant antibiotics listed below, and take them thru homeade tincture and the bulk plants I also boil and simmer 20 min and drink.

They've brought me far in a year. No body stuff in bone, joints, or nerve, and none in bone anymore in face, forhead, scalp and no nerve. Just around bone of left eye and feel brain inflammation milder.

Sound's like I should be functional but the overstimulation, and rapid thoughts, NOT ANXIETY OR CORTISOL just pathogen still takes me out as it is accompanied with brain buzzing and it's like my brain is a computer that doesn't stop processing.

Rid completely chronic frontal lobe, and head pressure.

My brain and eyes are very infected so still taking me out. Hated to but added zithromax 6 weeks ago, and am adding rifampin it's in front of me and flagyl. Bart has a strong hold.

The zith has brought it down more, but I'm still a 10 from 1-10 scale but that's huge from a 15. I can now look at people with my eyes, still infected but lessor area and herxing eyeballs aren't as bad, not painful like the whole year before this month. Brain is milder herxing, not extreme like it was a whole year........wow it was so so strong all day. But I FEEL the infection inside my head but area is about 20% of what it was originally.

But I still LAND at an intolerable brain, chronic altered base. I am not at a normal base and haven't been since Oct 2010 when it started to build thus adding pharma abx.

I got my liver panel, kidney panel back.

Liver was 1 point over normal. In Canada nomal is up to 35. Mine was 36.

Kidney was good.

MY CONCERN.

I feel the kidney inflammation and have for 6 months. I think it's dieoff Borrelia being processed thru kidney and it started with I added the whole plant teas that are so so strong. But the ND here said, no problem, take it as my kidney results are good. And the liver up 1 point from normal he said, can be from drinking, drugs or infection. I am a non drinker, no drug tolerance, background of heavy fitness girl before sick.

They are not lyme literate here so I arranged my program and dose and type of abx. I have all the bug late stage markings as well as feel the symptoms for each dif bug. Babs, Bart, Borrelia.

So, I read Bart can make liver enzymes go up. That makes sense as you can see it thru thick veins in hand and right forearms, striations from sauna bringing them out, and herx in body when starting Bart Stephania, ankles swelled, calves cramp, and that started before treating and got bad treating and eyes swelled but calves and feet good now!! Herxed that out. (low, low only body vibes chronic now.)

What do you guys no about renal failure and Rifampin? Liver failure and Rifampin?

I'm ready to get started, but do not like that I feel strange kidney stitches here and there with the on off inflammation. Not strong, but aware of them.

Going across border to WA to see Lyme literate Dr. Marty Ross on the 2nd of May. I know what does what, so not going in "help what do I do(?)". CANADA they do not know what they heck they are doing so I want to go to someone who agrees with me and is educated. He is. I don't have to explain to him. So...........plants now plus abx due to brain stuff I FEEL in herxes are working.

Anyone worry but turn out okay on Rifampin? I intuitively know I need it to move forward, but have to ask.

Thanks to all of you who come by. Hard to write through the head stuff, that's why I go on. Physically uncomfortable feeing infection in head and altered brain function, but as said, after adding zith, I know with this and my plants herxing on both and a dif lessoning of somethings, I am in the right direction. I brain head herx non stop and have daily since March of 2012 so the proof is in the pudding.

I wouldn't worry too much about Rifampin. My liver enzymes were very high and went down ( but are still above "normal" often). Rifampin lowered them. I've been on it for almost a year at 600 mg.

I don't worry about taking abx long term. The risk of progressing Lyme and co-infections is much worse for my situation.

I think you made a good choice with that llmd. He's good. He combines herbs and also knows when abx are necessary.

Wow, your numbers although still high went lower on Rifampin.

So is your pariticular scenario suggesting what I think?
You're higher liver enzymes are in fact due to the "infection" so that is why they went down on Rifampin?

You've been on a year at 600.Okay then.

I hope yours come down more as well. I do.

Yeah, it was hard for me to go outside of self treating. I am.......a science mind so it is easy for me to "get" all of this. I've done a heck of a job so far. BUT, my type of severity that got in the encephalitis arena from this........ I needed to........no choice.

Yes, Dr. Ross is well versed on the plants etc too. Thru email he sounded really impressed with my program so far, my knowledge about these bugs, and my plants I use. So, even though I don't need praise in that I'm not that personality, I prefer to talk science and not to be coddled by docs, it felt good to not be insulted by a doc for a change. Nice to be around a doc that is completely literate for a change.

I like how you put that Summer, he knows when ABX are necessary. It was a relief that he doesn't always use them. So he's not a abx crazy doc like some and combines herbs as you say. Wow right.

Hi Runner,

I didn't have side effects I know off when on Rifampin. I had the 'usual' bad herxing I had with all the abx that were prescribed.
Liver enzymes did ok after a few months on it.

Okay, no side effects either.

Like you I herx on the ABX, I've tried 2 so far. That's par for the course isn't it? I welcome herxing regardless how hard it is, I know it's working LOL then. Let's get these babies out right?!!

For me, Rifampin was one of the most tolerable abx to be on. Zith, Minocyclin and Plaquenil had a lot of side effects for me. I did several abx combinations for 5,5 months, but had to stop cause for some reason my body doesn't handle herxing and can't detox. Now up to my doc to determine why exactly. I have read about a possible cause on here, and will ask my dr about it in 2 weeks. I'm on an abx stop right now, waiting for news.

Meanwhile I'm on Buhner's Protocol, not that hard on my system.

With all of this, I don't know what has helped so far, but I will continue  and those little creeps will suffer devil

Be carefull though that you don't herx too long without breaks - it takes a high toll on your body (well, it did for me). I didn't know anything about detoxing when I started (didn't know this forum). My dr told me about herxing, but with little detail, and nothing about detoxing.

I guess you read everything about detoxing on this forum?

Yes, I think that my liver enzyme elevation was due to infections. They were up before I even new I had Lyme or took any antibiotics.

That being said, my LLMD doesn't take any chances with liver enzymes. If either of them go over 100 he stops all meds. I don't always agree with that, but I do adhere to that rule.

Rifampin gave me a big herx (mainly anxiety and swollen throat) for the first few days. After that, I've tolerated it very well. I also like to make my own decisions. I definitely don't take any medications without thoroughly researching and I OFTEN suggest protocols to my LLMD. Some LLMD's would hate a patient like me.

Okay gotchaMarie. I do not detox either. So my mother takes me to sauna every other day, plus I do colonics daily. No choice on that as my gastro shut down a year ago. Putty like from bart, nothing would come out getting stuck. I read about mthfr gene, took stuff for that.

When I can do sit ups and run I will bring my muscle for bm's back.

No benefit from mthfr stuff. I only notice the sauna and colonics combined take "some" edge off but do not bring my head to functional. Because of where I am hit, I can't take treatment breaks. I'm very coinfected and brain inflammation, overstimulation, all goes from bad to worse if I stop treating period. In a short period, like 24 hours. So I am basically forced to keep going. I don't mind in that, I'm getting injured infected, so it's got to be less than what herxing injury does getting it out.

But thankyou. I am no stranger to detox. Much of it does not benefit me other than the sauna sweating and colonics daily. I am on Buhner as well. My sig is not showing up. I am on Cat's Claw, Japanese Knotweed, Sida Acuta, Stephania, Andrographis, Houttunyia. I made huge lots of tincture I take daily and drink the decoction from the same bit plant chunks I made the tincture from, boiled then simmered and drink. It brought stuff down but isn't touching chronic electric brain, rage, overstimulation; it has brought a lot of the brain encephalitis down though. It took 6 months. Horrendous herxing when that was dying off. No sleep from how I'm hit so I'll keep going. The more bugs that come out, the closer I physically feel infection site go down and the reality I will come out. I don't stutter this month only after the zith helping. It is still bad so do not talk but I now just pause. It's not the cognitive that is affecting me but the wooshing, noise in head etc and the excruciating physical feeling it causes from the actual infection I feel inside my head. The site is getting smaller though behind frontal lobe and top of head, it doesn't cover whole top anymore which is good. I got hit hard inside head. Many...............don't really understand it.

I can't enjoy even walking due to it being so strong. It's all I physically feel in my head therefore no choice but pharma antibiotics. This type of symptom when chronic acute, takes the front seat. And it goes up, if I tried to move to fast, or talk too fast simply from movement in my face. Not kidding.

Sorry you got side effects so hard from the other two. I really hope you get some resolve in a good way to keep going. Very challenging deal this is. You are in my thoughts.

I was wondering about that. Okay, perhaps due to infection coming out then.

Okay, so agree or not, your LLMD is keeping a strict eye on your organs. Well...............he is responsible at least. And I do understand your side as well. I've thought what if I had to go off and it was working? I've gone back running out of plants and it takes a few days and got bad bad. So I hope when or if you go off you do not physically feel the setback.

I'm sure I'll brain inflammation more herx on it. That and eyeball and tissue inflammation around eyeballs and bruiselike marks there are how I herx. I brought a lot down. Holy smokes.

Swollen throat herxing you. Geeze, we herx everywhere don't we? Everyone so different but with the same disease. I read........the different strains from the different bugs decide why we can get completely different clusters of symptoms from the same bug. The dif strains of the same decides our primary symptoms and where they dif land on/in us individually. Interesting isn't it? (My writing is not great LOL oops, but you get my drift?)

I am like you. I am not a "here you drive" personality. Most hate it. I'm articulate though and say to docs now as I do not support allopathic medicince, talk science to me, and I weigh in opinions. Don't try to coddle me. That turns me off. We BOTH have to be respectful. This vessel is after all my body. I'm finding doing it in such a way, is opening up a better line of communication. Yes most hate it. The good ones, appreciate it.

They understand that quality in you, means you do the work and want to get healthy.

Thanks again Summer. You are in my thoughts as well. I can't wait to read more success stories from all of us. We can say, "remember when" and move away from this.
