I had my yearly physical yesterday with my GP...he is strongly urging me to get the shingles vaccine.  My lyme symptoms all began 2 weeks after my tetanus shot - my LLMD believes that the tetanus shot had something to do with that.  He's had several patients who said that their symptoms began after the shot.  Anyway, having another vaccine really scares me.  Has anyone on here had the shingles vaccine?

That is scary. I've had symptoms of three tick born diseases for 3 years. My wife has been fine so far, but got the tetanus shot 4 days ago. I presently have the shingles, right side of my face and right side in my mouth. It is horrible, never had it before.  But I don't know what to tell you.  You certainly don't want this, but what you said about the vaccines does bring concern.

I'm not a dr, but I would ask your LLMD instead of your GP if it's a good idea to get the vaccine. He'll know more about it cause vaccines can be dangerous for the immunosuppressed.

My dr doesn't want me to get vaccines now. I had to go to Africa 2 years ago and took the chance to go without yellow fever vaccine (we descided not to go to the rainforest areas and it was in the winter season, so little mosquitos) and with only Hep A vaccine. My dr was very hesitant about the Hep A vaccine, preferred I wouldn't take it, but I couldn't take the risk, and I had to go. I came back with Chlamydia Pneumoniae, that took 3-4 months to heal. In short, it really had an effect on my immunity, just what my dr predicted.

I had shingles twice, not one dr adviced me to get the vaccine...

I'm not ignoring this thread - I'm on the fence!

I've been blessed enough to have never had chicken pox- although not only did my brother have them, but the whole school did! Come to find out, I'm a carrier! blush

Same thing with Shingles - my husband had them, but I had just come off of abx that had had a terrible effect on my health, so I was afraid to use any more abx! So I took a chance, and I never got Shingles either.
