Hi I have Lyme Disease, using Rife treatment and low dose Doxycycline to treat but having a hard time detoxing.

I have been reading about MTHFR Genetics, can't really get my head around it at the moment but I believe it could be a possibility for me.
Since contracting Lyme I have had thyroid problems, adrenal fatigue and gluten intolerance as well as many other Lyme symptoms but previous to Lyme I had palpitations, miscarriages, IBS, headaches and Cervical Dysplasia.

I'm in the UK and cant find a lab to test me in the UK I have found 23andme.com who will ship test kits almost anywhere but am unsure if they will provide the answer to my MTHFR genetics.
Can anyone offer any help on this please?

Yes the 23andme test will give you results on the MTHFR gene mutation. You just have to Google and research to interpret what the results mean as it's not spelled out for you. Haven't had it done but this is what I've read.

what is the MTHRHFR,and RIFE all about,excuse me thats mthfr,,,i got lyme also,,i agree it is a mthfr,,,serioslly fill me n on these test,,,got 2 keep my spirits up,,sorry bout the pun intended,,,this stuff is no joke,,who knows these test could b my saviors,,,

Thanks ToddPaul - I'll go ahead and order the test it seems quite good value which is great because I've already spent a fortune.

Sorry 'its me' I don't now enough about MTHFR to tell you much. In my case I think it may be the reason I don't detox effectively. I use a Rife machine to treat myself and have made the most progress with this treatment. Best thing is you search for Rife machines and the possibilities.

Snowh1te....just ordered a EMEM....what kind of rife do you use? The rife & MTHFR are all fairly new to me (MTHFR mostly as I haven't researched enough yet). Had heard of the genetic testing & have been a bit afraid to learn where my weaknesses are as I've had many health issues, besides lyme. I can't wait to begin rifing! I'd love to hear your experiences. I won't get my machine for about 7 wks. Thanks!

Peggster- I've got a Doug Coil machine. I have also got a small Rife Digital Ultimate which was very good but time consuming and nowhere near as powerful as the Doug Coil Machine. But I can use it when I go away on holiday if necessary.

It's very tempting to use it loads at first and I have learnt to go easy the hard way.

I was using too many frequencies at first and as a result I now don't know which ones have been effective. I have seen the most progress compared to antibiotics, but have been severely toxic at times, think that's to do with the MTHFR thing.

I watched a very good PowerPoint today online by a Dr Rawlings which was very interesting, I have tried to get the supplements he recommends but have so far been unsuccessful. I will order them online.

I also ordered the 23andme test and have been speaking to my mum and sister who also fit the bill for the same mutation. Although they don't have Lyme.

What treatment are you on in the meantime Peggster?

The MTHFR is very complex and goes beyond just this gene mutation. It's part of a larger methylation cycle that happens in our bodies at a cellular level. I did the 23 and me test. The raw data you receive needs to be put into another database so you can find out what genetic mutations you have. You can use geneticgenie.com or livewello.com to have the raw data turned into the report you want. You will get a couple of pages of acronyms that will be very confusing. MTHFR is only one, and there are all sorts of variations of this. There is a whole series of mutations (called SNP's) that should be treated in the correct order. Like if you have CBS or SHMT, those need to be treated first or the rest of the treatment will go terribly wrong.You can go to mthfrsupport on the web to find some good resources.

I have not been able to move forward in my treatment because my methylation cycle is not working. So I am now working on this, and it is slow and frustrating, just like Lyme! I found a integrative med doc on the mthfr site and he has been great. He's in the Philly area and is working with me over the phone. He is also retesting me for Lyme and cos. My first test was negative, I'm curious to see how this one turns out.

I hope this makes some sense. I have horrible brain fog today and I can't comprehend things very well at all! I hate this disease!

I believe that 23 and me does not test for all MTHFR genes that yasko does, or even the ones I got through labcorp.. I wanna say they only test for either MTHFR 1298 or 677 not both

Kimomile - Yes I know that the results will need interpretation, as I am in the UK it will be difficult to find a Doctor to help with that as we are so far behind the rest of the developed world when it comes to putting science and health together and actually helping people holistically.

I was going to start myself on L- Methylfolate when I am waiting for the 23andme test. Could this be a bad move then?

Thanks PathogenKiller, it was difficult to decide which test to do. Other sites highly recommended 23andme. I'm awaiting delivery of the kit now so have to go with it.

Forgot I posted here. Lyme brain.
I did test via 23andme and I am compound heterogeneous for mthfr. Have a hard time with methylfolate though it seems to set electrical shocks of in my head. Still using the rife machine with lots of success, off doxy now just working on kick starting my immune system.
My GP is useless doesn't know about lyme, mthfr or any of my gut problems. Have spent over £5k on opinions and treatments and have no confidence in the NHS anymore.

While I'm so very sorry that you have lost your confidence in the NHS, I understand. I'm in the US and have lost my confidence in Western Medicine pretty much.

I am very happy though that you have had such wonderful progress in healing!!! Woo Hoo!!!
