ciprofloxacin for infections

Hey. Has anyone here taken ciprofloxacin before?

It turns out I have morganella morganii and citrobacter freundii according to the genova diagnostic test results and the papers showed that ciprofloacin could fight against both these infections in my body so I'm just wondering if anyone's taken cipro before and what kind of side effects people have experienced from it if any at all.

The biggest side-effect to be concerned with from Cipro is tendonitis/tendon rupture.

This can be prevented if you take Magnesium and Vitamin C.

Yes, it hits Bart., but Bart. can be resistant to it, too...

I will never take another fluoroquinolone again unless I'm dying and there is no other option. And even then, I think I would try to find ANY other thing to try.

FQ abx include cipro, avelox and levaquin among others. They are believed to damage cells at the DNA level, so when new cells replicate they are damaged as well. I believe I sustained FQ toxicity from the 3 times I took these drugs. Each successive time, my side effects got worse with fewer pills.

I had terrible anxiety, panic, weakness in my legs (I could barely stand--I thought I had MS), joint pain, tendon pain. I believe I'm still dealing with the tendon damage done by exposure to these drugs as a major symptom of my new dx lyme/bart/ehrlichia is tendon pain--in achilles, knees, elbows, thumbs, shoulders.

These drugs carry the rare FDA "black box warning" due to their dangers. Tendon ruptures can occur months or years after taking them and few people relate it to their use of the fluoroquinolones. PBS did a great video on people severely disabled from FQ use.

I had a very bad reaction to Cipro and Levaquin, wouldn't touch the stuff again, under any conditions. There is a reason why there are over 3,500 lawsuits against floroquinolone producers.
It can adversely affect in many ways, not just tendons, and it's negative effects are very similar to Lyme and Co. symptoms, making it difficult to determin which symptoms are Lyme and which are from an adverse reaction to a floroquinolone.
