Intro: brand new to forum, fairly new to Lyme

Stumbled across the forum this evening while researching heat sensitivity & Lyme. Good reading here. Glad to have found you.

My story is probably a familiar one - diagnosed with Lyme last October, after finding a tick in July which my MD insisted was not worth testing and told me if I had Lyme, I would have had a bullseye. What a rough summer, body aches (so much so that my husband and I bought a new bed, blaming the mattress), extreme fatigue, irritability that sometimes bordered on rage (anyone who knows me was alarmed by this, I'm definitely a happy optimist), and some really scary neuro symptoms (confusion, difficulty concentrating, terrible memory). I remember crying one day in the parking lot of the supermarket upon realizing we needed milk AND orange juice... the thought of carrying such heavy things while also wrangling my toddler was just too much for me, and I drove home without groceries. I sought therapy, thinking I was depressed, before finally going back to the doc a third time and having him suggest bloodwork.

I'm guessing the infection just ravaged my body in those months, because the doxy did not make me feel much improved. Sought the help of an infectious disease specialist - who turned out to be no help. I was finally feeling more like myself by February of this year and then had several good months.

about a month ago the symptoms returned, only worse. I had extreme pain and cramping in one hand, and neuro symptoms to the extreme. Many sleepless nights thinking I had MS or something of the sort. Working and trying to function was SO HARD but I just kept going, until one day my face and hand went completely numb and I ended up in the emergency room, fearing stroke.

The ER docs thought very little of the whole episode and sent me on my way. I went to a homeopath the next day who believes I have chronic Lyme, until she saw my bloodwork which indicated a new Lyme infection. Until she saw my bloodwork from last year which just complicated things further and pointed again to chronic.

I began a homeopathic treatment along with a 3-week course of Doxy about a week ago. I don't really know if I'm feeling better or not. Perhaps just hopeful that I've found something that could bring back a higher level of functioning. I have a very supportive husband who has really stepped up, but even he doesn't understand the truth of how poorly I feel.

So I'm curious to know how many on here are doing the homeo approach? I've seen a lot tonight about MD's and prescription meds.

Thank you for the reply, AND for the distinction. You are right, I just looked and she is a naturopath, not a homeopath. So I am taking 30 drops of certain things 3x a day, 60 drops of something else 3x, and 10 drops of another 3x. Plus the doxy, which she believed was necessary thinking it was a new infection. But who knows. I've heard and read about some rotten side effects.

This is the first doc I've met who seems truly well versed in Lyme and I trust her. Desperate times call for desperate measures.

 I am glad you found this site, it is like "home base" for me.

 I check in everyday and always feel better to know the people here understand and are quite knowledgeable in all things lyme.

Haha, me and my husband bought a new mattress too before all this happened for the same reason! Thats okay - our old bed was terrible. After about two weeks on doxy for me I started herxing. Tingling, electric pain etc. but by the end a lot of it had dissipated. Then I went off and wham - all symptoms came back. I went on different medicine for lyme.

Now I'm treating bartonella. There are a lot of choices though. Some people get better on antibiotics, others don't. You should know two months in if its helping or now.
