Treatment plan for lyme

I thought I was getting my treatment plan in one month so I was going to start on dr. cowden plan next week when I would get the herbs and also starting hyperbaric oxygen therapy on monday. I am still going to the oxygen therpapy on monday but I got my treatment plan today from my doktor so I am going to follow that. It is like this:

clarithromicyn 500 mg per day

doxycyclin 200 mg per day

Bififlor forte (acidophilus I have never heard of and I can´t buy in my country, do you know anything about this)

lipsomatic vit c 1 gr per day

chlorella 500 mg per day

hydroxycobalamin 10 mg 2x a week (b12)

Drink 2 liters of water

This is at treatment plan for two months and then he wants to value it again.

Do you think that the doxycyclin dose is high enough and should I try to get IV.

Should I get some herbs with this or just try the abx first.

Will you please comment on this, I can´t reach my doktor until after two months its not the same when you are not being treated in your country but I have a doktor that is going to follow this with me but has not been treating lime much. Lyme is unknown in my country because we just have the deer thicks but they are not believed to carry borellia.

Hi iris!

That is a relatively conservative plan. I cannot remember the dosage I was on for Clarithromycin - I will check when I get home. the clarithro w/the doxy is good. The doxy is a low-dose but I was on it for awhile at the dose you are taking. That dosage if one is only taking doxy is not good however in combination with biaxin...its better.

It is not an aggressive plan BUT - some people don't need as aggressive treatments as other. You could always see an herbalist on the side perhaps? Herbs they helped me a lot, can be used with antibiotics and are cheaper. Most doctors start with oral drugs at first in case of a severe herx response to the IV's.

Acidophilus is bacteria. When you use antibiotics they also kill the good bacteria in your gut. The acidophilus will partially replace what is killed.

For the Bififlor forte, I found a description!!!
lactobacillus rhamnosus
lactobacillus acidophilus
bifidobacterium bifidus
inulin, oligofructose (fos)
wild marjoram
oregano

A conservative plan is the best way to start in my way of thinking! It will allow you time to keep up with the detoxing needs of your body, and not hit the infections so hard that you are miserable.

If in two months, you are ready for more, then it sounds like your doctor may be ready for that!

Congratulations!! But be careful to not try to start everything on the same day! Start one thing at a time and give yourself a couple of days before starting something new. That way if you react to something, you will know immediately what it was instead of having to play a guessing game.

Thank you so much for your replies always good to have another opinion. Then this is just a good plan and I am going to order a few herbs and take them also but first start on the antibiotics and the herbs a little later.

Yes and thank you for your description on the bififlor it looks like it is not just a acidophilus, something more is added. I am not sure I can get it then I will just get a normal acidophilus without a prescribtion. I hope that is okey.

The more strains in a probiotic, the better as they all work together. I have seen posts by quite a few members over the years that are just taking acidophilus and still have issues with yeast.

Can you get kefir, kombucha, or any other probiotics drinks there? You could substitute that for the Bififlor. I do know that you can buy Kefir grains on the internet and make your own if you choose!

I am not sure if I can get kefir here I have to check it out. Can you tell me what kind of probiotics are the best that I can get from iherb.com. Maybe put in að link.

The best probiotics need refrigeration, so I don't know if you can get any quality probiotics from iherb. Hopefully someone else will know of one.

Kefir is something that you can make at home, if you are interested. I have included two links so that you can learn about kefir and see if it's not something you want to use.
