I might need to go in the hyperbaric chamber for a wound in my foot. I'm thinking it could possibly help with my lyme. Any opinions?

WOW! What a great blog, I just read it! I'm going to forward the article to my doctor. She doesn't do the hyperbaric chamber but another center does and I'm interested in learning to see how it can help me out :)

The evidence for using Hyperbaric oxygen treatments for Lyme are still not good - do your research on this. There are a few that will respond favorably, but this is very expensive and very few have much improvement.

I'm not saying to not use it, especially if you are in a situation where it's needed for something else - like apysicalwreck does. What I'm saying is simply, do your research and consider the odds of it helping you specifically.

I too was as ill as this woman in that article (seriously) - I healed with herbs & acupuncture - does this mean that that's all that anyone needs? No way, we are all unique individuals with unique needs.

I had severe neurological Lyme w/Babesia & Bartonella for 8 years...considered an antibiotic failure, and so ill I was homebound for 5 years straight.

My symptoms were extreme and relentless; too many to list here. I was told, even by LLMD's, that I needed a miracle, and there was nothing more they could do for me (I tried many, many protocols with never any improvement, just a continual spiral downward).

I eventually became so toxic and environmentally sensitive that I could do no treatments for 5 years before starting MILD hyperbaric treatment w/supplemental oxygen (I bought my own chamber and self-treated 1 hour daily).

I now have my life back...working again, running (I had been a runner for 17 years, pre-Lyme), traveling, etc. It has been a miraculous recovery, and it is 100% due to mHBOT (along with meticulous diet, and gradual exercise).

I believe success depends on the frequency and consistency of use...many people say they "tried hyperbaric, but it didn't work"...but if you query them, inevitably they didn't do it consistently or frequently enough...or for a long enough duration. You must be committed to this treatment to have success.

I almost made the fatal mistake of returning my chamber after 40 consecutive "dives", not feeling any improvement at that point. Fortunately, I was talked into continuing treatment, and felt the first "change" (not necessarily "improvement") after about 2 months.

It was a rocky, 2-step-forward, 1-step back road, but after several months, although I was not completely well, I was functional again, and after 1-1/2 years, I was "back"...

Now, 2 years from the beginning of treatment, I am still noticing benefits from the chamber...and truly have my life back...very active again...no medications...no restrictions...

Low (pressure) and slow WORKS...I'm living proof...

Welcome to our community! I'm so very glad to hear that you are doing so well!! Congratulations! yeah

My story is so very similar to yours, only mine ended with me using herbs, not mHBOT. As long as we find healing, it doesn't matter what form it comes in!!!

Thank you for posting your success with this! We need all the success stories that we can gather to show that it takes a variety of things to heal all of us - no one thing works for everyone!

Glad to hear you are well also!

I would like to add, that since becoming well, I have been working on a hyperbaric network to help people access mHBOT more affordably...through creative funding, rent-to-own plans, and/or sharing costs through cooperative use of new/used chambers.  I am not a salesperson, and I don't represent any company...nor do I take compensation. 

Again, I emphasize that the protocol takes commitment...and with Lyme and coinfetions, it is my experience that success depends the frequency and long-term use...it is not a "once in a while" thing.  But it works...

There are a number of people who have started and are making progress with mHBOT...and I am looking forward to having them include their success stories on your forum in the future...

Actually, any protocol needs to have that kind of commitment, no matter which one a person chooses.

While I look forward to hearing of more success stories, please don't post each time in every single thread about HBOT - one or two threads is plenty - unless you are responding to specific questions. Then please do post in all threads where someone is asking questions!!

Knowledge is power!!!

Although, what would be better is if those who found their healing would actually post their own stories! :-)

I don't plan to post the same info. on multiple threads...I just wanted to put my story out on several HBOT threads for exposure initially, since different people may have subscribed to each...

I also planned on having people post their own success stories...not speaking for them...

Great!! I'm sure that I'm not the only one looking forward to that!

I understand about posting on several of the HBOT threads for that reason, but the Mods are told to not let that happen. I'm not removing them because so few people know anything about it.

Do you happen to also have any more case studies or articles supporting HBOT or mHBOT and Lyme disease? I've never been able to find much info on the subject - although I do have to admit that I haven't been looking too hard lately.

I have been researching HBOT since 2011, when I bought my chamber and started tx.

I would overwhelm people with resources...but think a good place to start is a book by Dr. Paul Harch, entitled "The Oxygen Revolution"; and also his website at hbot.com. It provides a good foundation for how hyperbaric works in the body, along with before and after SPECT scans that are very compelling.

Although much of what is written in the book/website covers many diseases, it is also relevant to Lyme because mHBOT treats the common denominators of many chronic and neurological conditions...(e.g., pathogens, hypoperfusion, inflammation, release of stem cells, regeneration of neural and epithelial tissue, promotes angiogenesis, assists in removal of toxins, modulates and improves immune function, etc.)

A question...I read something in the rules about not being permitted to post research articles...what are the restrictions on that?

Reading it again, I think it may have to do with restrictions on recruiting subjects for research...

As you've determined, this mainly applies to those who are wishing to recruit people for research purposes and such. I've always allowed links to research articles since I've been a Mod here, as I believe it's the only way to really know if it's a scam or if it's something a person should look into.

You're welcome. Just pay attention to your body to make sure it doesn't come creeping back in case there are some bacteria waiting for a chance to get going again. I don't know if anything gets rid of every last bacteria. I assume you plan on keeping your oxygen chamber just in case. Enjoy your better health!

Garden Peace...

No worries there....after going through hell for over 8 years, I "take no prisoners" when it comes to Lyme and coinfections. 

Fortunately, I have been without my chamber for up to 5 weeks (due to a repair issue), and have been fine, with no feelings of regression or return of symptoms.  However, since there is no good evidence as to how long protective forms of Lyme (e.g., cysts, etc.) can remain viable....I will continue to use my chamber, although I consider myself well.  Eventually, I believe the protected forms will either degrade or morph back into a vulnerable form to be exposed to the 02 and a now-functioning immune system.

Relaxing & reading for an hour a day in a comfortable chamber It is a small price to pay to live an active, normal, med-free life again...

Thank you, Phoiph - with just the information that you have provided here, I may have been able to help a Vietnam Veteran get help with their PTSD and other issues that had been affecting their life.

Would the network that you mentioned be available to help Veterans as well? Or is it just for certain groups that need mHBOT for healing? The Veteran that I am looking for doesn't have Lyme, but his wife does - which is how I got to know them.

Awesome, Traveler...thank you for the best Christmas present I could've opened this morning!

mHBOT is very effective for PTSD, and I have a neurologist friend that runs a hyperbaric clinic who treats veterans for FREE.  I believe Dr. Harch may also.  Where do these people live?

I initially started the network to help people with Lyme, but it is available to help anyone who might benefit.  The mission is to make mHBOT more accessible and affordable for people, by providing information, resources, referral, locating new and used chambers, providing info. on creative financing resources, set-up, operation, and troubleshooting home chambers, connecting with other people who want to cooperatively share a chamber/cost, etc. 

At this point, since I don't have the website up and running yet (no time!), I work with people on an individual basis to see what their needs are and how I can connect them (I do not take compensation).

I also have an arrangement with a chamber manufacturer (the only one I deal with, as they have a perfect safety record, do repairs, have been around the longest, etc.) to receive their wholesale prices for new and used chambers.  I pass a good portion of this on to the buyer, and the other portion is held on account with the manufacturer to purchase future chambers to be placed in the community for use on a donation basis by people who can't afford treatment (I don't take a cut).

So...I will help them any way I can...

Just a FYI for anyone reading that thread... some of the price quotes are a little high on the chambers, and there are other financing alternatives, and used chambers options, cooperative/shared costs, etc., that may not have been mentioned...

I think it's wonderful to volunteer your time to help others in need!!!

I plan on starting a Christ centered Lyme support group in the new year to help those around my area (and myself), as there are no support groups here.
