False Positive testing Lyme vs. EBV

I really don't see how EBV can cause false positives in Lyme testing since 95% of people will have this infection by age 35-40, which would mean all that we know about western blot and Elisa would have to be thrown out the window. Here's link to what I stated:

Can Lyme cause false positive in EBV? I have no idea. But what I assume is that if it can, it would be near the cut off of a positive result. For instance if .90 is the limit for EBV, and you have a 3.6, I highly doubt that's a false positive.

Maybe you read it's common for people with Lyme to have positive EBV. Mines positive but I clearly don't have mono again.. Prob cas our immune systems are suppressed the virus becoms active again since you have it your whole life. My stupid regular doc thinks ebv is the cause of all my problems. Definitely not.

Maybe he had lyme and got mono due to immune dysfunction.

To my understanding ebv is the virus that causes mono but the majority of ppl get ebv at some point and not everyone gets mono. And a lot of ppl with Lyme have an active ebv for whatever reason.m

Yes, EBV is a virus that can result in Mono. What I am suspicious about is that kids can test positive for EBV but usually don't have any symptoms of mono. That's why I am concerned about my nephew - he had sore throat, swollen glands, fever, the works 2 yrs ago and missed like 2 weeks of school. Then the hip pain came along sometime later. I am just wondering if he had lyme, and it made the ebv test positive (bc I read that somewhere), or if he had lyme and then came down with the EBV bc his immune system was suppressed. Or he never had Lyme at all!! but then where did the "myserious" hip pain come from? the pediatrician just told my sister it was growing pains. I don't think so!!

My 11 yr old son was first diagnosed with EBV (mono), and it was a re-occurrence. Then when he didn't get better, the doctor found Lyme. My understanding is that indeed, the EBV took advantage of Lyme having decimated his immune system and it went to town.
