Detoxing with MTHFR gene mutation

I have struggled to find any straight forward information on this topic. I have one hetero mthfrc667t gene mutation and was just curious how those with lyme detox since it is harder when you have this mutation. Any advice?

If you take the methylfolate, or 5-methyltetrahydrofolate, and avoid the artificial Folic Acid (supplements, foods fortified with Folic Acid), then that should compensate for the MTHFR C677T mutation.

Do you know if you have any other methylation gene mutations (e.g., CBS, MTRR, etc.)?

Hey Razzle! I take a multi-vitamin that contains metafolin L-5 MTHF that was a rec from my LLMD. I am unaware of other gene mutations. Would I be able to find that out through the 23andme testing?

Yes, 23andme will tell you most of the methylation genes.

Dr. Yasko's test panel (see www.holisticheal.com/dna-methylation-pathway-test-kit.html to order her test) is more targeted specifically at methylation genes, though it is considerably more expensive.

I have the 1298C MTHFR mutation and I have found it is hard at times to detox. I use sauna, baths, teas, and pulling, and diet to detox. Sometimes it doesnt seem to do anything. Ive recently added charcoal. I am interested to see how it works. Ill keep you posted. I take Sam-E for the mutation.

question - I have been "detoxing" - but how do you even know if the detoxing works? how can you tell if the herx just ended on its own or if you actually got rid of the toxins?

Where do you folks get your MTHF? I can't find high enough doses. My LLpsychiatrist had prescribed 15 mg., but I can't find that on Amazon. Five is the highest mg. amount it comes in. I guess I should go back to paying for the prescription out of pocket, bc my insurance doesn't cover it, and I think it's still cheaper via prescription than ordering it online.
