Hi guys-

I'm on Week 11 of 2g daily of IV Rocephin (with Actigall), and it has helped but not cleared everything. My doctor said I could do 4g/day 5 times a week, so I tried that earlier this week and had severe paresthesias in the head (I already have these, lightly, sometimes) as well as a headache and intransigent insomnia unlike any I've had since last fall. In short, it felt like it really stirred things up and I'm curious how others have done on 4g vs. 2?

I started on IV Rocephin 2g 1x/day for a couple months then went to 2g 2x/day for 4 days on and 3 days off. This was only an increase of 1 dose per week and I didn't feel impacted too greatly. The long weekend off from infusion time was great. I did a total of 13 month on Rocephin, then another 3 months IV Doxy.

It got me to about 80% with joint pain and stiffness mostly resolved with neuro issues remaining from Babs or some other stubborn co-infection.

I took IV Rocephin, 1g 2x/day, for a month. Long story short, I got gallstones, and had to have my gallbladder removed. I had an ultrasound done before I started, to make sure everything was fine (and it was); and I was taking something to keep gallstones from forming (Diflucan, maybe), and I still got large stones very quickly.

The sad thing was, several of my symptoms got better on Rocephin, but it just messed me up too much.

Just wanted to share my Rocephin experience, to make sure you're careful.

Hi I was on a much lower dose of the oral form of the drug which worked extremely well but did eventually cause side effects. That is a high dose and you may want to work up to it before you get to that level.
