When To Go To IV Antibiotcs???

I have been on antibiotics for almost 2yrs now. I am considering going to IV antibiotics. Many I have talked to have gotten better after going this route. Does anyone have an opinion about this? I have heard IV antibiotics are more effective after one has been on oral for awhile. Any suggestions or advice would be appreciated :-)

IV antibiotics are definitely more effective, but with that you get more side effects. Where do you live?

I did one year of mild ABX with my first LLMD. After 6 months with my second LLMD we decided to go IV, but I needed to first change my work health care plan to better cover long term treatment costs. Make sure your insurance company will cover IV longer than 30 days. Anything less than 3 or 4 months will be a waste of time and money. I didn't see any improvements until around 9 months, and kept at it for 16 month total.

I was horrified at the proposition of IV abx. After 5 months of next to no improvement on oral antibiotics I discovered this forum. I just read all the stories about people being on antibiotics for years and still ill and I decided it was not for me. I ended up going to Sponaugle which was the best thing I could have done. They properly diagnosed me with HLA, MTHFR, mold, and protomyxzoa. I would have never gotten better on antibiotics and just descended the same helix everybody else was traveling. You might want to look at the reason why you are sick first. With me it was my genetics and exposure to mold. That brought my immune system down and my body was not able to fight when I got bitten. Antibiotics only address the infection, not the cause of it.

I have gone to barely crawling around my house in February to being able to hold a full time job at a grocery store (started in June). I am not 100% but I feel like I am improving every day.

Chapelle, I live in Missouri. Lymebabe, I don't know if I have any other infections. I have thought of going to Mayo clinic for this because insurance would cover. I believe my LLMD would do these tests but each one is very expensive. I believe I can not take enough antibiotic orally due to my sensitivity which prevents my healing. Tickbite666, would you say your close to 100% better now?

I still have fluctuating symptoms with more good days than bad. I'm at a good 90% and it may be as good as it gets. My most significant remaining symptom is tingling and/or burning feet. Some days it's mild and others worse. It may be permanent nerve damage from the disease or it may just take a long time to fully heal.

I expect to be off all ABX in a few weeks. But will remain on Cat's Claw, GSE, and my other supplements and see how it goes.

Lymerunner I had Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis, Chlamydia Pneumoniae, Protomyxzoa, and toxic black mold exposure. Some people just cannot do antibiotics and I was one of them.

Lymebabe where or what is Sponagule? What tests did they do that hadnt been done before?

Palm Harbor, Florida. I was there for five weeks in April and May of this year. They did a number of genetic tests, mycotoxin panel, heavy metals (unprovoked), brain chemistry, blood clotting, ammonia, etc. etc. I just left my copy of the testing with my new ND so I can give you some details but some I just don't remember. When she gives it back to me I can tell you more. The most important ones in my opinion were HLA, MTHFR, organic solvents, mold, the Fry test, and ammonia.

Nobody tested me for those before Sponaugle did. If you email me I will gladly give you details or talk to you if you wish.

Lymebabe--I read your post about Sponaugle Clinic and I would like more information about it. How much did your treatment cost and did any insurance cover that?

Unfortunately with a lot of these clinics they are upwards of $20,000 and don't take insurance. That does put it out of the possibility for most of us. I'm not against these clinics and I'm sure that they probably do have some good things going for them.

It is possible to see what they are doing and then try to apply it where you can where you are. For example, doing Myers vitamin IV's etc. A lot of people have good results with that. My dr. did it for $185 for two IV's one myers and one glutathione. So it is possible to find some stuff like that cheaper.

I'm not against IV antibiotics, it personally just wasn't for me.

sued they charge 3k per week but with all the other expenses it came up to about 6k per week. There were people who were paying less and there were people who were paying more depending on medications, supplements, tests, etc. I am in debt due to this. Insurance paid for prescription drugs but I had an HMO at that time. If you email me I can call you and talk to you about my experience there. They saved my life. I am doing much better. Today I had three symptom free hours, a gift from God!

Lymerunner, you said that you can't get on high enough doses due to a sensitivity to the abx - IV abx will likely be worse as the abx go straight into either your heart or your blood stream depending on where they place the IV. Please research IV treatments more! I would hate to find out that because you tried to use IV abx, you had a horrid reaction due to the sensitivities you already know you have!

Thanks Traveler, I have decided for now not to do IV abx and instead am hitting my yeast pretty heavily. I think that has been my problem. My diet has slowly slipped off a "sugary" slope and I'm really working hard on this wink

The Sponagle Clinic sounds great but too pricey for me. So that would be out of the question. I am just going to keep on muddling through and follow the standard protocol for now.

And with the increase of abx back to the orig.dose of 3--twice each day I have had some improvemts. Way less fatigue, not as many aches and just a better mood overall. Amazing! But I am still cautiously optimistic....
