Plaquenil?

I was on the Plaquenil/Biaxin protocol years ago, and more recently took it with mino and rifampin. I never noticed any reaction to it, but the latter combo was pretty potent with a severe herx. Some say to get an eye exam to benchmark against any long term damage. For me it was pretty benign, but your mileage may vary. Worth trying it to find the right protocol that works best for you.

My new LLMD actually just prescribed Plaquenil WITH Biaxin, with the stated purpose that Plaquenil would increase the effectiveness of Biaxin... Plus the side benefit that it is anti-malarial (to hit the Babesia, although not the strongest Babesia treatment) AND that it has action against inflammation (it's sometimes used for RA and Lupus patients), which is HUGE for me with all the joint swelling.

But...I've only been on it for 3 days so far so it's hard to tell, and haven't added the other new meds in yet. It's been a pretty good 3 days though. I'm optimistic. Seems like a drug with pretty low chance of side-effects, and even the retinal issues they say depend on being on the drug and extremely long time and/or high doses, and can be managed by diligent eye check-ups with a retinal specialist.
