PIC line

I had a picc line earlier this year. I did infusions twice a day, and it was 1.5 grams in 300ml of solution in the eclipse balls (not the drip kind of IV). The first visit the nurse showed me how to do everything myself (she installed an extension tube so I could reach the end of the line with both hands), and then she only had to come back weekly to draw blood while I took care of the infusions myself. The actual infusion process had an acronym to help me remember the order to hook things up. The acronym is SASH:

Saline (start by flushing the line)
Antibiotic (hook up the abx)
Saline (flush again)
Heparin (flush with this to keep clots from forming)

Did they deliver a box of supplies to you with the abx, or was that just me? I already had everything the nurse needed. They sent me bags of saline and heparin syringes, gloves, alcohol wipes... tons of stuff, along with supplies for the nurse to use.

It's a simple process.
