Can't sleep! Need suggestions for sleep meds! Tremazepam?

Hi Everyone,

I cannot sleep. My LLMD says I will not get better unless I sleep. He gave me a script for Tremazepam. Tried it twice, I still did not sleep and I when I got up in the morning... my lyme symptoms felt worse and I feel like I'm drugged. Have a killer headache too! Any suggestions for a sleep med that works? I have tried Ambien and it works ok for 4 hours but then I wake up and can't get back to sleep again. Help!

Thanks, Girlie... Tried Melatonin awhile ago and had the same out of it feeling the next day... did not do much for my sleep either... but maybedidn't give it long enough. Maybe will try again.

I haven't found anything that works anymore. I have Ambien, clonazepam, trazadone, melatonin,diphenhydramine. Night before last I did not sleep at ALL!

Here's what I do:

In a.m., rhodiola, 2 phosphatidyl serines, and ashwaganda.

In evening, ashwaganda.

At bedtime, one melatonin and Temazepam. Yes, melatonin AND temazepam. Start very slowly on the last two.

Try some Benadryl early on in the evening.

Expose yourself to lots of sun in the morning, during your natural wake time.

I take Seriphos at bedtime and it helps me stay asleep. Chamomile tea to fall asleep. If all else fails I'll take an epsom salt bath. Sweet dreams...wow I can't remember the last time I had a dream:(

My husband uses Valerian and sleeps a lot better.

If you do Rhodiola, don't take it of the evening, it will make you stay awake, but I agreed with Margaret to take it in the am.

I take Flexiril so I can relax my tense muscles, my muscles when I should have been relaxing were contracted.

Also benedryl can make you sleepy.

Good luck and hope you find something that works. Nothing is worse than a bad night of sleep and then feeling terrible the next day but it does get better.

Do you know exactly what it is that you can't sleep? For a few suggestions, is it pain, itching, wake too soon, can't settle into sleep, or other things?

Sleep issues are some of the hardest to tackle. I am just now getting to where I can sleep 7 hours with only magnesium and melatonin at night. I used to take a slew of things!

I was dead set against taking medication for sleep but out of desperation I finally started on Zopiclone. My doctor and I worked long and hard on my sleep problem.

Along with the Zopiclone I also take melatonin, magnesium, and ashwaghanda. I am very sensitive to medication and was worried about feeling groggy when I started the Zopiclone but I have no ill effects from it or the other products I take.

At the beginning when my nervous system was really messed up I had a hard time staying asleep even when on the medication, but the more I heal the better I sleep. Even now when something upsets me or if my nervous system acts up I will wake up during the night, but overall my sleep is much better. I slept for 7 hours last night. It feels like a miracle after what I went through!

I really hope you find the answer to your sleep problems soon. I know how awful it is to go without sleep for a long time and it's no fun.

Many people in this situation have an excess of extracellular glutamate. This can occur for several reasons, but often through NMDA receptor issues. IMO, the glutamate transport system is a protein derived transport system. I say eat less protein, but that is just me. A lack of Vitamin K can also cause this to happen. A lack of vitamin K comes from either insufficient Vit K intake or insufficient Vit K conversion by bacteria in the GI tract. Sleep comes from your GI tract. Get it right and you stand a much better chance of having the biopterin cycle work correctly. Your BH4 is probably low.

I take tissue salts called mag phos, which I love!! It's magnesium supplements that are homeopathic and dissolve in water.

I also drink organic tart cherry juice at bedtime. It's supposed to work just as well as melatonin.

I went from zero hours of sleep at my worst to almost 7. My sleep is broken and I get up a few times to use the bathroom or just wake up during the night. But I'll take any sleep I can get.

I finally collapsed and slept 18 hours straight, from 6:00pm-12:00 noon today. But I'm still tired. I wonder what that means for tonight.
