Band 18? Does anyone know what this means?

I have read so much different information, can anyone explain?

My band 18 was IgM positive and IgG negative. I'm finding conflicting info on it as well.

Check where you are getting your information from and make sure that it matches up with other reliable sources. Misinformation is one of our biggest enemies, right after ignorance of others.

Bands 18 & 41 are the tail end of the bacteria and can cross react with other infections with the same type of bacteria (spirochetes).

Band 31 is Lyme specific - it indicates OspA (Outer Surface Protein "A")

Band 66 is thought to be Borrelia Hermsii - another strain of Lyme disease, but there is still some confusion about this.

Char, with your test results and if you have the symptoms of Lyme, you should be able to have a LLMD get you started with treatment - if they are worth their salt!! I had only one positive band (23) and had a really wonderful LLMD start me on treatments anyway back in 2007 because I had all the symptoms(except the ones specifically for males!).

IgM means the infection is in the early stages and/or an active infection.

IgG results don't usually show up until 3 weeks to 5 months after the person is infected.

And to be clear, I also did not experience any of these symptoms: Heart attack, Serious rhythm disturbances of heart, Stroke, Vasculitis, Frequent diarrhea, Retinal damage, Uveitis and/or iritis, Wandering or lazy eye, Periodontal disease, Bull's-eye (Erythema migrans), or Cancer.

Also as an infant, I did not experience these: premature; low birth weight; low muscle tone; failure to thrive
