I hope it's OK to post notes from the webcast—if not just let me know and I'll take them down:
Horowitz interview from Autoimmune Summit:ELISA misses 50% of people, misses 80% of those w/out rash
100 strains in U.S.; 300 in world
Labcorp and other std testing tests for only one strain
C6 lyme ELISA more useful on spinal taps
IGeneX uses 2 diff strains (better banding) on lyme blot
"lyme bingo" (specifically reactive bands): 23, 31, 34, 39, 83-93
multi-systemic disorder
PCR (DNA test) but 10-20% chance picking it up on serum, 7% on spinal tap
cultures 16 wks is 94% sensitivity
lymphocyte transformation test (iSpot test)
Real Time labs in TX for mold
100 different strains of babesia but only 2 are tested
Many illnesses stem from overstimulated immune system, which looks like autoimmune disorder:
- autoimmune markers (antithyroid antibodies that are positive but duble-stranded DNA negative—specific marker for lupus)
- or rheumatoid factor positive but CCP negative so it's not true RA
- but pt. may have nerve pain, so they do antigangleocide antibodies — autoimmune problem affecting the autonomic nervous system from the lyme
- MS - cystic lyme forms cause demyelination
- Lupus
- infections and toxins drive a lot of autoimmune problems
Low IgM—none of immunologist can give answer for why - possibly only associated w/ lyme
Mitochondria damage from inflammation
Horowitz's 16 pt map
Must consider holistically: HEA cortisol, thyroid, hvy metals, detox pathways, hormones, sleeping
Jt., muscle, nerve pain come and goes—only in lyme
Horowitz's questionnaire on p. 32: SUNI new paltz study evaluated 300 lyme patients against patients w/out lyme with Horowitz's questionnaire 46 & higher (w/ 2 std deviations) confirmed the specific diagnoses of lyme
Sexual transmission: Study done in 2014 and found lyme in 100% of sperm and 50% of vaginal secretion but no one knows how often it's transmitted
how body responds to intracellular or cell wall drug
Treatment:
penicillin shots
Abx long term? With chronic cases - relapse rate is 99% after a short course of abx
- CDC studies in 2014 they could find PCR positives in one of their xenodiagnostic studies yet they would not say it's persistent infection—can be found in animal studies, mice, horses, dogs—cultures are positive in humans.
- if you do well in couple mos. w/ abx you can come off it - but need to get diet in order, detox, etc… can move to herbs but you have to stay on something to prevent relapse (nearly life-long?)
integrative therapies: bugs don't proliferate at above 104 degrees core temp for more than 2 hrs (spirochetal infections) then pulse rocephin - cell wall, flagyl/tinidizol - cyst form, zithromax - intracellular, serrapeptase for biofilm and use oxidative therapies
inflammatory molecules cause the fatigue
humic acid (EBV and herpes infections) - binds toxin and pulls it out of the cell
lyme and environmental toxins showing up in autism
he has 500 on waiting list—hired a new MD and PA

Anti-yeast protocol w/ abx to protect gut:
Maintain yeast-free, sugar-free, carb-free diet while using high dose probiotics (200 billion in many different forms of acidopholus and different strains, saccromyces bollardi), oregano oil, grapefruit seed extract, olive leaf extract. Rarely you need to give people prebiotics.
Main summary:
1.
Bacteria major factors are causing autoimmune phemonomon, anti-thyroid antibodies, ANA positive, rheumatoid factor positive, antigangleocyte positive antibodies. If you have autoimmune problems but are having trouble with standard treatments, and you have the classic lyme symptoms look to lyme specific bands on WB.
2.
Detox hvy metals that are linked to autoimmune problems. Detoxification and lower inflammation (8 of 16 its deal w/ inflammation)
(other nails in the foot: need sleep, deal with leaky gut, mitochondria dysfunction, hormonal disorders)
Has seen reversal of MS, lupus, RA symptoms (main cause environmental toxins and bacteria).
