ManofChedar:
Don't trust the tests, please. I had 5 tests in total. 3 were positive and 2 were negative. Many people that have Lyme for a while test negative--not because they no longer have lyme, but because their immune system is not making enough antibodies for the tests to detect them.
My son's test came negative after a year from when he got the rash. I believe he still has lyme. He is on antibiotics now and we will re-test next week to see if his test will be + because he has many symptoms of lyme. The regular drs have no clue what is wrong with him. We've been to 2 of the best children's hospitals in the country. I could barely convince the drs to test him! They keep telling me he doesn't have Lyme because he was treated with a month of abx when he got the rash. Most of us here know that a month of abx doesn't always succeed in killing the bacteria, especially if co-infections are involved.
The test is not "looking" at the bacteria in the blood, but at the antibodies. If you had this for a while, it may no longer be in the blood anyway, so even if you look through a microscope, you may not see the bacteria present. It is tough when you have a negative test, but there are herbal remedies that you can try. OR: if you find a dr to treat you with a month of antibiotics and then repeat the test, often time the test comes +, because the antibiotics wakes up the immune system and then starts making antibodies. Good luck!
