New to Forum--Badly need LLD in piedmont NC

Hey folks. Sorry this is so long.

I will have had Lyme for 3 years this April. First couple of months I had no idea where all these strange symptoms were coming from; after UNC found nothing I spent a year researching and figured it must be Lyme. My then-physician at community clinic used the Western Blot test and I came up with 2 out of the 3 markers. Did 3 weeks of doxy with no change.

As I had no insurance, I was trying herbal and diet to help, to no avail. Got a job in retail, extremely stressful but pays the bills and allowed me to get insurance. I've recently gone to my old physician and today, a referred neurologist. Neither believe in Lyme. Very discouraging.

Among all the other horrid symptoms, I have had brutal pain down outer side of left leg and additional pain to hip and knee joint, laying down, sitting and standing. Figure it's sciatic nerve etc., but neuro doc was of no help. I work full time on my feet in a home store section of upscale dept. store, which is physically exhausting and very stresssful in itself.

I am in extreme need of a LLD before I lose this job and become unable to work.

I am not far from the Center for Integrative Medicine, but do not have time (insane retail schedule schedule just week by week) or money (it's very expensive) to unknowingly check it out, and need some advice/recommendations/support. My best friend doesn't believe in Lyme, either.

Is there anyone who can help me? I need to get a handle on this, am afraid now of permanent joint and nerve damage.

Hi vikingqueen - welcome to the forum.

You have found a wonderful place for support and information.

Unfortunately three weeks of doxy isn't enough even for early stage lyme disease. I'm sorry you haven't received proper treatment for lyme disease. It is a common thread here on this forum. Many, if not most of us on this forum have gone from Dr. to Dr. - either not getting diagnosed, or being misdiagnosed...and given prescriptions for pain and psych meds.

Detox is something you can start right away....and will help your body flush out the toxins created when the lyme bacteria dies-off.

Thanks, flower girl. I've considered the Center, it's less than two hours from me, but the cost is prohibitive. I will have to check and we what if any my insurance covers!

Vikingqqueen, unfortunately many of the Lyme Literate doctors are expensive. I hope you can get the money together to see one. Otherwise, there are Cowden and Buhner protocols that you can do on your own.

Perhaps the doctor would give you a protocol to follow that you could do through your general practitioner since cost is a problem. No harm in asking...I still drive 3 hours to see my LLMD gas plus office visit makes it very costly.

Hope you find the right treatment plan.
