Rosacea and Lyme?

A friend of mine was just recently diagnosed with rosacea, including ocular. She's going to try to get a second opinion. I've never come across this as a Lyme symptom, so I wondered if any of you have heard that or have it with your Lyme. She is on ABX and I believe some herbals too, plus some vitamins and other things are doc routinely gives out. She has had a rough battle and didn't need this on top of everything else. I feel so bad for her.

Something that looks like Rosacea can occur- I've had it for years- and I theorize it's due to excessive sympathetic nervous system sensitivity, cause by irritable brain/nervous system, both central and peripheral.

It's been steadily but slowly going away since I'm on abx.

Thank you both. I'll send her your replies. She was put on more abx for this, even though they say it's not bacterial. I sure hope she can get a 2nd opinion on this.

I did check it out and feel sure my issues came from lyme, not mold. The only times I have experienced the adult acne & rosacea have been when other recurring symptoms flared & accompanied it, symptoms that I now know are classic lyme.

However, it is interesting how many other common lyme symptoms are also signs of mold, such as the exhaustion and headaches. I hadn't realized mold illness is often misdiagnosed for many of the same things as lyme is mistaken for. Thanks for sharing.

I did not end up knowing i had lyme until about 2 years ago, but for 20 years before that i did have rosacea. In doing research on my condition back then, i cannot remember where, but i found out that taking evening primrose oil does help eliminate the rosacea. But if i were to stop with the primrose evening oil, the rosacea would come bounding back. My accountant at the time was a lovely lady but it was obvious that she was had a bad case of rosacea. How do you ask a lady a question about her rosacea, but i got up the nerve to ask her. She admitted that she was seeing a dermatologist and the dermatologist was prescibing various creams and lotions to her but none were helping. I told her about primrose evening oil and she gave that a try. On her next visit to her dermatologist, the dermatologist was incredulous that the rosacea had gone away. To this day i take one pill of primrose oil daily and it has helped me tremendously. When the rosacea was blooming, not only would my cheeks be all red, but my nose would grow like a mushroom and there would be ugly acne breaking out all over. A week or 2 of primrose evening oil did the trick. It worked for me before i knew it was also a lyme thing. xfmlg

I've had mild rosacea since my early 30s. My dad had it too. It's gotten worse in the last couple of years, which is when we think I contracted lyme. It's getting a little better with the antibiox.
