LLMD IN ALBERTA!

I've been suffering from lyme for 4 years with no help in Alberta. Found a LLMD! An actual lyme literate medical doctor in Alberta! Starting treatment and on my way to good health! All albertans with lyme, do not give up!

Thank you Garden Peace and Girlie for your warm welcome. I am in Alberta as well. As are others, I was--and am really scared to go down this path to recovery. I could have probably "dealt" with the intermittent symptoms that I have over the past 8 years, but figured I should try to tackle getting rid of this thing once and for all when I'm 44 not 64 years old! I do not have an LLMD, mine is ND, as most are in Canada. I hope now that with Elizabeth May's Bill C-442 passing, it actually prompts the strategies needed across Canada to be built and implemented. Since I am so new to the forum I am sure that I will find all sorts of info.

The frustrating part about being on the web is that I find a lot is doom and gloom (because it is diff to get a dx and someone to actually listen to us "sickies"). I have a friend who is going through this as well. We are trying to keep positive spirits and not get sucked into the negative.

Any suggestions anyone has to get through the day without ALWAYS thinking about lyme. I have such a hard time with how this has consumed my life. Not everyone wants to hear about it. I know my loved ones must be tired of asking me how I am feeling....they care but must get tired of all of this. I'm trying to keep positive around all of it and my boyfriend is so supportive and caring (I ended up in divorce after I became sick in 2006-2008--go figure). So glad my 14 and 17 year old kids are as wonderful as they are but I know they are scared seeing their mum in bed for days on end and looking like I'm all falling apart some days.

I look forward to meeting some new friends on this forum and hopefully finding some good strategies on how to deal with this disease during treatment. Thank you all......

I too live in Alberta, my husband has chronic lyme disease. I am trying to find a doctor that will treat him, if you could please pass your Doctors information onto me that would be wonderful. We do know of a wonderful LLND in Calgary if anyone is looking he just attend the ILADS conference in Banff Feb 2015.

I just want to say how incredibly strong each and everyone of you is - even if you don't feel that way some days you are!!!

Has had chronic lyme for 15 years - has had symptoms for years - progressively getting worse
No bulls eye rash
fly fisherman - loves the outdoors (AB, SK, BC, and States) could have come from anywhere
Has had multiple tests all based on neurological problems, seen many specialist
LLND - did the blood work to be sent to IGENX in California in Dec 2014
Tests came back positive Jan 9, 2015 was told he had lymes disease - family doctor agrees
Not sure of any co-infections at this point
Just starting on the path to better health
